In August, the Obama Administration listened to women's rights advocates and made an historic advancement for women's health with new regulations that require insurance coverage for birth control with no co-pays.
But President Obama may be poised to cave on this tremendous step forward for women's health.
THIS MAY SHOCK YOU: ANOTHER PETITION BEGGING OBAMA NOT TO CAVE TO THE RIGHT-WINGERS THAT HE LOVES TO "REACH ACROSS THE AISLE" TO--TRANSLATION: ABANDON THE RIGHTS THAT ANY TRUE DEMOCRAT WOULD BE ADVOCATING.
Extreme anti-woman forces who literally oppose contraceptives are lobbying President Obama to overturn these new regulations and block access to birth control for millions of women.
Tell President Obama: Take a stand against extreme anti-woman activists and ensure all women have access to no-cost birth control. Click here to automatically sign the petition.
If President Obama caves to the demands of the radical anti-contraception activists, certain employers like religiously affiliated universities and hospitals will be allowed to prevent their female employees from having access to the same health care as every other woman in America.
The Department of Health and Human Services and the medical community agree that providing no-cost birth control is an essential part of preventive health care for women. And Kathleen Sebelius, the director of HHS, said that providing birth control at no cost to women should be like "covering flu shots."1
President Obama needs to hear that women's access to critically important health care shouldn't be determined by who they work for.

Do you still long to fight in the military now that the plan is to use them against American citizens in America? In other words, you may now won the right to squash the very kind of protests that got you any of your rights. Fabulous, isn't it girl? Aren't you proud? The fact is, war is hideous if you aren't protecting yourself. We've been attacking innocents in the Middle East and now plan to attack our own if they get out of hand, which they are doing right now.
Senate Moves To Allow Military To Intern Americans Without Trial
NDAA detention provision would turn America into a “battlefield”
UPDATE: Yes, Americans Will Be Targeted As Terrorists Under the NDAA
The Senate is set to vote on a bill today that would define the whole of the United States as a “battlefield” and allow the U.S. Military to arrest American citizens in their own back yard without charge or trial. “The Senate is going to vote on whether Congress will give this president—and every future president — the power to order the military to pick up and imprison without charge or trial civilians anywhere in the world. The power is so broad that even U.S. citizens could be swept up by the military and the military could be used far from any battlefield, even within the United States itself,” writes Chris Anders of the ACLU Washington Legislative Office.
This isn't a funny video. it isn't a short video. But it is so worth watching all 10 minutes of, especially since it could change the our ability to watch short, funny videos online. Please watch and take action by signing the petition. Cenk left "liberal" news network MSNBC because he refused to stop criticizing Obama. Now on his own show, he's saying that Obama is clamping down on the internet far more than Bush ever dared to.
Congress is debating whether to grant itself the power to turn off parts of the Internet. Fun sites like YouTube. Informative sites like Wikipedia. Political sites like MoveOn.org.
This week, Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) will start a historic filibuster of the Internet Censorship Act where he'll read the names of every person who signs a petition against Internet censorship. It's the perfect opportunity for 5 million Internet-connected progressives to visibly add their voice to a Senate debate. The more of us who sign, the stronger this effort to block this terrible law will be.
Add your name to the debate today.
A compiled petition with your individual comment will be presented to your senators and representative.
Just saw the incredible Marsha P. (for Pay It No Mind) Johnson documentary at the IFC. Whether you see her as an inspirational gay/transgender rights pioneer/performer or a crazy HIV-infected hooker/beggar, one thing's for sure: Christopher Street will never be that divinely colorful and free-spirited again.
Mon, Nov 28 at: 8:00 PM Introduced by Michael Musto
Marsha P. Johnson was a revolutionary trans activist, Stonewall instigator, Andy Warhol model, drag queen, prostitute, and Saint, as well as a downtown NYC fixture from the 1960’s through her too-soon demise in 1992. Johnson persevered through a life embodied by her middle initial P, which stood for “Pay It No Mind.” A tribute from one queen to another, the magical Michael Musto presents the very special world premiere of Michael Kasino and Richard Morrison’s powerful documentary. Johnson’s friends and companions will also be present to discuss her important legacy.
I don't usually expect to hear gems like this on an airline's selection of tunes. So I was surprised to hear Ledisi's single PIECES OF ME on a flight. Such a pretty song and what a voice! Her name is pronounced lettuce-y and i know that many tried to get her to change it for showbiz reasons and she stuck to her guns and now has close to 2 million hits on this song. Chris March introduced her to me years ago and we spend a few magical hours together hanging around in the Village. I think her first release was on the jazz tip (which she also sings brilliantly) but her new album is good ol' fashioned r&b. So if you like soul music, there are other tracks on this album which I'm sure you'll enjoy.
Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth. –Oscar Wilde
BY GLENN O"BRIEN:
According to New York City law, one is not allowed to Occupy Wall Street while wearing a mask, and several protesters have been arrested recently at Zuccotti “Park” for wearing masks, including the Guy Fawkes mask popularized by the 2006 film “V for Vendetta.”
The law under which masked protesters were arrested by men wearing police costumes, dates to 1845. It bans gatherings of more than two persons wearing masks. The anti-mask law was enacted during the Anti-Rent War (1845-46) in upstate New York, when thousands of farmers revolted against their landlords, the Van Rensselaers, who were for generations the feudal lords of the Hudson Valley.
A fascinating article from the UK's Guardian which shows how the violent crackdowns on protesters aren't mistakes by a few "bad apple" cops or orders from mayors. In fact, 18 mayors from around the country attended a conference on how to suppress protesters which was attended by the Dpt. of Homeland Security. The violent suppression has Obama's blessing. Corrupt politicians waging war against their own constituents--from the top down. What do you Obama supporters have to say about this?
FROM THE UK GUARDIAN BY NAOMI WOLF:
The shocking truth about the crackdown on Occupy
The violent police assaults across the US are no coincidence. Occupy has touched the third rail of our political class's venality
But just when Americans thought we had the picture – was this crazy police and mayoral overkill, on a municipal level, in many different cities? – the picture darkened. The National Union of Journalists and the Committee to Protect Journalists issued a Freedom of Information Act request to investigate possible federal involvement with law enforcement practices that appeared to target journalists. The New York Times reported that "New York cops have arrested, punched, whacked, shoved to the ground and tossed a barrier at reporters and photographers" covering protests. Reporters were asked by NYPD to raise their hands to prove they had credentials: when many dutifully did so, they were taken, upon threat of arrest, away from the story they were covering, and penned far from the site in which the news was unfolding. Other reporters wearing press passes were arrested and roughed up by cops, after being – falsely – informed by police that "It is illegal to take pictures on the sidewalk."
In other words, for the DHS to be on a call with mayors, the logic of its chain of command and accountability implies that congressional overseers, with the blessing of the White House, told the DHS to authorise mayors to order their police forces – pumped up with millions of dollars of hardware and training from the DHS – to make war on peaceful citizens.
I loved this show but it was short-lived. I was young at the time this aired--yes it happened once upon a time--but I remember that people were disturbed by how tiny Dolly's waist was, emphasized by her mammoth jugs and shoulder pads. Of course, the strip of white on the middle of a black dress is Mae West's old trick to look even slimmer! Anyhoo, two legends singing a great song by the Manhattan Transfer.
I grew up in the 1960s and 70s and there were three stars I never wanted to hear anything else about--Elvis Presley, James Dean and Marilyn Monroe. Sure, all were talented. But the cult status that their early deaths brought them bored me even as a child. Jaded at ten! While the Elvis and James Dean manias died down, continual revelations about Marilyn's connections with the Rat Pack and John F. Kennedy renewed the blonde bombed bombshell's fame every few years. Sure she was gorgeous and the epitome of the silver screen's sex siren, but at one some point it just became overkill.
Well, it's been quite a few years since my initial impression of Miss Monroe, so I was eager to see My Week With Marilyn. The charming, bittersweet story doesn't disappoint. If anything, it should revive the fever surrounding her and I think that even my jaded ass has even caught some of it it! Now older, it's easier for me to identify with an irresistible platinum temptress overloaded with star quality, beating the men off with a stick in between drug and alcohol abuse-basically she and I have the same story except that I haven't kicked the bucket yet. KIDDING!
Of course, one problem lay in how to cast someone as alluring as the most alluring film star in history? Michele Williams is not as stunning, but her profile really suggest Marilyn's. The hair was often a little too small to complete the illusion, and for some reason the make-up team went light on the false eyelashes. Perhaps this was accurate for her in that period, but the classic Marilyn look was a lash, upswept liner and a heavy-lidded, I'm-so-drugged-out-you-could-probably-fuck-me-and-I-wouldn't-even-know-it effect. Thankfully, the costume designer was very true to period so Michelle was always corseted in skin-tight dresses and she even had a little suggestion of a tummy as did the voluptuous original model.
And Miss Williams makes up for her merely decent physical resemblance by exuding Marilyn's personality. Michele's a fine actress who captures all of the star's moods, from needy and insecure about acting opposite the legendary Sir Laurence Olivier to the coquettish yet manipulative diva to the tempestuous substance abuser escaping from the stresses known only by most famous woman in the world. In one particularly enjoyable scene on a day off from the set, Marilyn asks her escort "Shall I be her?" and instantly turns on the signature charms that endeared her to the world until everyone present is in awe of her magic. From crass Hollywood public relations men to Marilyn's fawning acting coach Paula Strasberg, we catch a glimpse of the machine it takes to make a one-woman industry of that magnitude tick.
Marilyn keeps tabs on the film's producers by seducing their employee Colin Clark, the lowly production assistant on the 1956 flick The Prince And The Showgirl upon whose book this film is based. Played by Eddie Remayne, he's just one of a crackerjack cast which includes Derek Jacobi, Julia Ormond (as Vivien Leigh), Kenneth Branagh (as Olivier) and Judi Dench, who lights up every scene she appears in as a wise, older actress on the production who comforts to the skittish mega-star. The art direction is spectacular and the vintage English scenery is a joy to behold. The humor is smart. Now of course, every major motion picture has to have a love affair which pans out in the end. Colin dates a young wardrobe mistress on the set before becoming enraptured with Marilyn. Much to my surprise, after Marilyn heads back to the states after completing her role, Colin returns to his first love but instead of running out together holding hands in the sunlight, the plot only hints that they may get back together, which makes a refreshing change from the typical formula. One common dynamic is that while the Prince's classically-trained English cast can act circles around Marilyn, they have to acknowledge that her unique gift allows her to easily outshine them all on screen.

The soulful voice of vocalist, songwriter, and producer N'Dea Davenport first emerged in 1991 when she became the front woman for the British funk band The Brand New Heavies. Featuring international hits "Never Stop," "Dream Come True," and "Stay this Way," the band's self-titled 1992 debut album brought acid jazz to pop's mainstream. As the band's lead singer, Davenport's kinetic stage presence and soaring vocals drove the band's groove into the hearts, feet, and hips of dancing audiences.
It's safe to say that Davenport's instinctual ability to move a crowd developed from her club roots and education as a dance student. While attending college for mass communications, classes in music, dance and acting augmented her studies through graduation. Later on, after leaving her hometown of Atlanta with $300 in hand, she moved to Los Angeles and became immersed in its underground warehouse scene of the late '80s and early '90s. As a dancer, she was embraced by artists and visionaries in fashion and photography, as well as by diverse musical talents. Their subculture linked Davenport to great pop artists, including Keith Haring, Jean Michel Basquiat, Robert Mapplethorpe, and Fab-Five Freddy. As fate would have it, Fab-Five Freddy advised his DJ friend to sign Davenport to a solo deal around the same time that The Brand New Heavies landed on this same Delicious Vinyl label and were looking for a new lead singer.
In 1995, at the height of The Heavies' commercial success, Davenport resigned and headed back to the U.S. After returning stateside, she worked to build her solo career and collaborated with various artists, including, Mos Def, Mark Ronson, DJ Krush, Dallas Austin, Guru (Jazzmatazz), Natalie Merchant, Madonna, and Daniel Lanois, to name a few. Her self-titled solo debut was released on V2 Records in 1998, boasting the funky flavor that listeners have come to expect from her. Davenport would later reunite with the Brand New Heavies in 2006, and she continues to tour with the band. She is currently working on a project called Celectrixx, an electronic and acoustic duo that she conceived in Japan with up-and-coming producer Katsuya. Celectrixx's sonic recipe, consisting of dub rhythms, electronic beats, and infused dark soul, is inspired by Davenport's progressive musical vision.
At 1:00 AM Tuesday night, after two months of peaceful protest against the people and institutions that wrecked our economy, police officers under direct orders from the Mayor of New York City raided Occupy Wall Street and evicted protesters from Zuccotti Park.
The First Amendment of the Constitution guarantees all of us - including these protesters - the right to peacefully assemble and express our views. But over the past week, similar nighttime raids executed by mayors in Oakland, Portland and Atlanta have cast a dangerous shadow over our liberties.
Today, I am asking you to join me in standing with Occupy protests everywhere and demanding that the Mayors of America respect the First Amendment and the rights of our citizens to assemble and express themselves. Click here to sign the petition and demand that the mayors of America respect the Constitution and the rights of Occupy Wall Street to exist.
Right now, corporations are spending unlimited amounts of money to influence our election system under the guise of free speech. Yet when people like you and me gather in parks across America to protest this broken system, we are deemed a threat by local mayors.
Stand with me, Occupy Wall Street and all Americans who wish to defend our disappearing liberties in demanding that America's mayors respect the Constitution and rights guaranteed to all Americans in the First Amendment. Sign the petition today.
It's so insane to see all of the tabloids and dailies with Kim Kardashian on the cover ripping her and her fake family apart now that her sham wedding has been exposed. And these are the same mags which built up this no-talent! The real sham is that there was never anything special about her except a pretty face, hot body and a sex tape. Before reality TV, a whore like this would've just gone into porn, but our standards are so low that no-talent whores now rise to the top of what used to be a talent-based industry. The real losers are the impressionable kids who see a greedy, phony slut as the nation's #1 star and make Kardashian or Hilton as their last names. Think of the lessons they've learned from her. Just as when Britney was melting down and shaving her head, these kids feel that however awful the coverage is, the star is "winning" because of the magnitude of the press. A rotten lesson for them.
I am working on a music supervision project and going through all my tunes. Of course, I have dj disease where I overlook the classics in favor of today's hits. So it's been fun coming across some that were not even labelled properly. Like this wild jam full of crescendos and disco mood swings. This singer, Lorraine Johnson, was black and attractive. Yet they used someone else on the record cover a la Martha Wash and Blackbox. Anyway, it's a phenomenal song as is her rendition of The More I Get, The More I Want which Teddy Pendergrass also did a version of. Enjoy!
While I'm trying to move my $ to a credit union, I can't do it until something is resolved. So I'm on the phone with Chase yesterday and the representative actually ends the call with "You have a blessed day." You work for the devil, you dumb bitch! How are you gonna pretend to have the authority to bless anybody? Since every call is now monitored for quality control, I thought of calling back and demanding that this dunce not try to shove her religion down my throat during a business transaction--unless she was male, in which case I don't mind it shoved down my throat. But then I lightened up and thought "Choose your battles, Bunion." While I may think that anyone old enough to hold a job should know better than to have an imaginary friend in the sky who looks out for us except he occasionally decides to smite us, those are her beliefs and she was just sharing them. Since I worship black donkey dicks, I decided to simply share my religious beliefs so from now on, any "You have a blessed day" will get a sweet response of "Thanks, angel! And may you be gang-raped in a steamy prison fantasy scene."

Facebook Opens Doors To A New Way of Suppressing Information, Activists Constantly Banned
"This is a job. Post and spam a person’s Facebook articles and posts for a profit. Some get paid up to $20 an hour. There is one individual who has at least fifty fake profiles that he uses to spam Wisconsin activists. It’s not hard to find these services. A quick google search pulled this up real quick. But they seem to have taken an even lower form of low. Trolls are now having activists removed by filing fake Facebook complaints. That is right, people are suppressing information in Wisconsin by actively reporting people they deem to be a threat on Facebook. I myself have been reported and banned for one to three days for simply posting “Good job” or “The majority of Wisconsin doesn’t like Scott Walker.” People have been reported on pages for saying nothing more than my name and have been reprimanded by Facebook. The strategy is simple and Facebook lets it continue. If someone reports something as abusive to Facebook they don’t actually look at it, they just remove it and warn the person who posted it. If you get enough you are not able to dispute them at all, and with no admin contacts and no one at Facebook actually looking at the posts reported as “abusive,” the person gets blocked."
In a 90 minute GOP primary debate, candidate Ron Paul got 89 seconds. His anti-war and anti-torture statements were cheered wildly as you can see in the video below. Ron mentions that the current lead-up to an attack on Iran is just like the phony build-up of doctored yellowcake evidence tying Iraq to 9/11. Funny how peace, even from a republican candidate, is such a dangerous notion in this country that it must be silenced. Kucinich, who campaigned on ending all war on the democratic ticket in the last presidential race, was shut out of a debate completely. The powers that be make too much $ off of war that even mentioning peace is too much for them. And peace gets cheers from a republican crowd? So who is it that wants these baseless wars? As this supposedly Christian nation gears up for it's biggest holiday, let me remind you so-called christian murderers who support war of the traditional Christmas blessing "Peace on earth, good will toward men." If you sit back and do nothing and allow innocent people to be killed with your tax dollars, you're accomplices to murder.
So we're possibly/probably gearing up to invade Iran based on faulty intelligence that they have nuclear capabilities. According to this former CIA official, that intelligence is incorrect and Iran can not attack Israel, which is gunning for a preemptive strike. And why are we focusing on Iran's supposed nukes when several other countries in the region have similar nuclear capabilities and also hate Israel. Remember what happened the last time we believed faulty intelligence of WMDs in Iraq? We're still there!

I don't know what to make of this. But it looks like the same war-mongers who brought us the sham war in Iraq now have their sights set on attacking Iran. Now we can't blame Obama for starting the Iraq war--even though I blame him for voting against it and doing nothing to prosecute Bush and Cheney for war crimes--but what is his motivation in this? I don't think the Daily Mail is the most reputable paper in England, but I say we get the hell out of the Middle East and take care of our falling apart country. Unless Obama's goal, as the establishment's goal has often been, is perpetual war so that contractors get paid, we conquer the oil-rich Middle East to feed out addiction, and oh, just in time for the elections, he's assured of the jewish voting block. I seriously haven't heard much about it--what do others make of it? Are there reports on this from more credible news sources?
UK and U.S. 'draw up joint plan to attack Iran': Evidence of nuclear programme raises tension in Middle East Whitehall figures say Iran is 'newly aggressive - and we are not sure why' Iran 'has enough enriched uranium for four nuclear weapons' Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pushing for invasion Tel Aviv test-fires rockets capable of carrying nuclear warheads into Iran Report reveals China continues to supply Tehran with missiles and other conventional weapons Obama says nuclear programme remains a threat and calls on Iran to reveal its intentions
Netanyahu challenges Obama to attack Iran or he will. TAKE THE CHALLENGE, OBAMA! And do nothing! Let Israel fire up a honey's nest if he feels that he must protect his people with a preemptive attack on Iran with the weapons the US has been buying them for decades. Or Obama can prove that he's a war-monger.
Finally, as it looks like we're preparing for war in Iran, when are we going to realize that this country can't police the world? For chrissakes, we'e slashing police budgets here along with firefighters and teachers. Even if this countries motives weren't suspect as the Iraq war proved they aren't, we can't afford to police ourselves, much less the powder keg that's the Middle East. So let Israel and Iran destroy themselves and get out of their way.
Soon, we're going to start hearing the build-up about what a bad man Iran's leader (whose name I can't spell) is. And he does seem crazy and full of hate. And now I guess he has nukes. But just as deposing the "bad man" Saddam Hussein over his non-existent 9/11 ties was a mistake--THIS IS TOO!
Man says he ‘woke up gay’ – A 26-year-old man had a gym accident and says he woke up in the hospital and realized he is gay. Former rugby player Chris Birch claims a gym accident led him to become gay. Birch says he was trying to do a back flip during training, but broke his neck and suffered a stroke. After that, he says he woke up in the hospital and realized his sexuality had changed. Experts say maybe some “personality changes” have happened caused by the stroke. Now he has become a hairdresser.
WONDERFUL NEWS! These petitions work! Because we spoke out, Obama is considering placing climate change over big oil. Please re-urge him to do so.
CREDO: "Thanks to the historic activism and pressure of thousands of people around the country and inspiring leadership from our friend Bill McKibben, what was only months or weeks ago considered a foregone conclusion, has today hit a significant road block.
The State Department and Obama Administration announced today that they will re-evaluate the route of the Keystone XL pipeline, and restart their environmental assessment, which take until at least the beginning of 2013 to complete.
This is huge. The decision is not the same as rejecting the pipeline. But it is a major delay. And it is also an explicit recognition of the inadequacy of the State Department's initial review process. And it is proof that the petitions, phone calls, letters, rallies, and yes, 1,252 arrests, made an enormous impact on this decision.

Many wealthy corporations, like many wealthy individuals, pay lower tax rates than the rest of us.
A new report finds that during the past three years, GENERAL ELECTRIC paid a tax rate of negative 45%. Among 30 major corporations paying negative taxes (they are richer after taxes than before, often receiving rebate checks) were WELLS FARGO and VERIZON.
It’s time to tell these three corporations to pay up.
Big corporations want the rights of “persons” but don’t want to pay any taxes. Instead, they get the public – actual persons – to pay their taxes and subsidize them . . . even as these businesses amass huge profits.
Corporations are supposed to pay 35% in taxes. But Wells Fargo received $17.9 billion in tax breaks. Verizon got $12.3 billion. G.E. took $8.4 billion.
Thanks to public dollars, these corporations can buy politicians who facilitate their wildest desires – including tax breaks, predatory lending, sales of personal data, war profiteering, and the elimination of net...
