I've had a wonderful tour of Australia for the past two weeks thanks to Rod Lay at Global Spin. But imagine my shock to see this koala bear-infested Christmas tree in my hotel lobby, cruelly mocking Jesus's birthday with false, if cuddly, idols. With a heavy heart I'm heading home where we're still fighting the War On Christmas. This chilling photo proves they've lost that war down under. How wilt they tormenteth me yet? Put another shrimp on The Nativity and Dingo Bells? Beelzebub! Hexuba! Elpheba! Salem!!Qantas! I hereby denounce thee!

"Thanksgiving means many things to many people. To the average American, it is a time of giving thanks for what we have. A time of watching football, getting ready to spend obscene amounts of money on Black Friday “sales”: camping out for a new television set that we didn’t need. To Native Americans it is often about being insulted by pop-American history, a time of betrayal and a reminder of the centuries-long genocide that took place after indigenous North Americans saved the collective ass of colonists. For others it is simply about a day or two off of work, school, and Star Wars or Godfather marathons on cable. But for the historical settlers at Jamestown, from 1609 to 1610, when the holiday was already in practice, this was a time of murder and cannibalism." MORE: POLITICALBLINDSPOT

This petition is something else, but I signed it. How insane is it that a war-weary nation is asked to sign a petition urging a likely candidate for future president urging her to weigh in favorably on peaceful negotiations with Iran? Negotiations set in motion by the very administration she just left. Hillary was one of the many snakes in Congress who showed extremely poor judgement in agreeing with George W. Bush and voting to attack Iraq--for absolutely no reason. At least Obama distinguished himself in the Senate by voting against that war. Now he's attempting to negotiate with Iran and a prominent group like feels the need to press Hillary and get her position on record. The people don't war, yet we have to beg our representatives and likely future representatives for peace. TO do what we want as opposed to what they're going to do anyway. That's very tragic. "Most prominent Democratic politicians have not praised the deal" indicates how far the Democrats have become hawks just like the Republicans. Is Hillary's game plan for winning the White House positioning herself as further to the right than Obama? Then why not just run as a Republican if you're gonna act like one? MOVEON.ORG: "This Thanksgiving, I'm thankful that the United States and Iran are not at war. I'm thankful that President Obama fulfilled his campaign promise to aggressively pursue diplomacy with Iran, making sure that all peaceful means are exhausted to reassure the international community that Iran will never try to build a nuclear weapon. I'm thankful that Secretary of State John Kerry put his reputation on the line to work aggressively to get a deal. I'm thankful that those efforts have been successful in producing an interim deal that opens the way to a comprehensive agreement, due not only to the work and commitment of President Obama and Secretary of State Kerry, but to the Iranian people for electing a new leadership determined to try to improve relations with the West. And I'm thankful to all the Americans who worked to elect President Obama on a platform of pursuing diplomacy. Predictably, Republican warmongers like Lindsey Graham are attacking the deal. Unfortunately, with some noteworthy exceptions like California Senator Dianne Feinstein, most prominent Democratic politicians have not praised the deal, even though polls show the American people back the deal overwhelmingly. Perhaps some of these Democratic politicians are more concerned about retaining the campaign contributions of warmonger interest groups like AIPAC than they are in representing the opinions and interests of the majority of Americans. In particular, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has been quiet. This is odd, because when there was a possibility that the U.S. would bomb Syria, Hillary wasn't shy to endorse the bombing. If Hillary would endorse the deal now, it would make a major contribution to peace. Lindsey Graham can complain all he wants, but in order to undermine President Obama's diplomacy with Iran, the warmongers need to recruit key Democrats to their side, like New Jersey Democrat Robert Menendez, chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. If Hillary endorses the deal, the political space for right-wing Democrats to undermine the deal will close. Urge former Secretary of State Clinton to endorse the deal with Iran by signing our petition:" SIGN: MOVEON.ORG

Hey, America! It's First Lady Michelle Obama and I had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner made from organic vegetables that we grew ourselves in the White House's garden. I hope you all tried to eat healthier, too, because healthier eating is my personal platform. Even though most of the country can't even find foods that aren't genetically modified any more. And my husband appointed a former Monsanto big-wig Michael Taylor to a senior position at the FDA, in a disgraceful fox-guarding-the-hen-house scenario. Working in tandem with Monsanto, the government has almost succeeded preventing the need to label which foods contain what. It's a good thing that most of you are more concerned about my bangs than being forced to eat Frankenfoods. But look on the bright side--the economy is so pitiful that most of you couldn't afford organic vegetables if they were available in your area and properly labelled. Another broken campaign promise in which corporations win out over average people brought to you by my husband.
SEATTLEORGANICRESTAURANTS: "During the 2008 presidential campaign Obama mentioned that the public had the right to know if their foods are genetically modified. Now four years later, GMOs are banned in 27 different countries but the biotech industry and FDA don’t even acknowledge that there is any difference in genetically modified foods compared to traditional foods. It’s pretty amazing how Michelle Obama, the first lady, launches a campaign to fight childhood obesity and digs up the White House front lawn to plant an organic vegetable garden and on the other hand her husband shakes hands with biotech industry and appoints, Mike Taylor, the former VP and attorney of Monsanto, as FDA deputy commissioner." Michelle Obama insisted, during Obama's presidential campaign in 2008, that their family has been on organic diet for the past few years. Yet President Obama has made no efforts to lead America towards healthier food production with temporary halt to GMO foods while conducting a comprehensive research study of its long term side effects. In fact, he has not even made any attempts to simply label GMO to protect babies, pregnant women and those with chronic diseases. Activists, minorities, women and the young who voted for Obama hoped that his policies will be different than George W Bush. During Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign, his supporters got the signals that Obama will make a real difference and start reform by putting the demands of the average American ahead of few corporate elites." Researchers claim several causes in this NY TImes article. 1. Gays are "sero-sorting" and only having sex with men who are negative like them. One big problem with that. Many men lie. You may be in love with that man and find it hard to believe that he's lying. But many guys don't even know that they're positive. So it's on you. I actually had one fool trying to show me his bone marrow certificate to try and convince me to have sex with him without a condom. 2. The economy is bad so people engage in riskier behavior. But health is wealth, my friends. 3. AIDS is no longer seen as a fatal disease. No, but it's still chronic and incurable even on the expensive meds. Better be glad that Obamacare doesn't turn you down for pre-existing conditions because without the meds, AIDS still is fatal. Since AIDS with meds is a chronic and not fatal illness, many see having AIDs as just another risky behavior like smoking or eating trans fats. Except that you can stop smoking and start eating right. You can't get rid of HIV so it's better not to contract the virus in the first place. 4. Because their partner's viral load is lower when they're taking meds, some bottoms feel that it's ok to let someone positive top them without condoms if the top is on his meds. Except that some people don't take their meds everyday. On days that they don't take their meds, the viral load is higher and so the sex becomes riskier. And men lie. 5. Young gays didn't witness a generation of their friends die. So what? I didn't see a generation of my friends get eaten by crocodiles but I still know better than to swim in a swamp full of them. The BOTTOM line is that you have to protect yourself. Condoms used properly with water-based lubricants prevent the spread of HIV. 'Tis the season for sharing, but there is no need to share this virus since we know how to prevent it's spread. If gays are now so anti-Russia, why are so many more playing Russian roulette with their health? I don't enjoy using condoms, but I don't enjoy coffins either. Here's a lovely new Coco Peru video. She always makes me smile! And then shit. And then smile again. And then eat it. And then masturbate...a neighbor's pet. I hope this inspires you, too.

I like Sharon Needle's new video and it does a good job of recreating the kooky cable show which the original gem of a song came from. And the original is truly a cable classic but I couldn't find the link.

Here's a round-up of reviews of Britney's new album. I thought this bit was hilarious! And I thought I was the only one who was noticing her new "english" accent. She started using it with the dreadful Scream And Shout--but she's too dumb to really do an accent. So when she does her "english" version of "werk", it almost sounds as if she has that common speech impediment like children who can't pronounce their r's have. She calls it her most personal album and starts it off with a "prostitution anthem" written by 6 writers--four of who were male! How very personal of her! "McCormick, like other critics, also notes that the "publicity pitch" on the album is that it's Britney's "most personal" to date. However, he notes, "It would presumably be asking too much to detect either irony or satire in the decision to launch this campaign with a highly effective, stripped-down electro club banger called 'Work B---h,' in which young women are commanded (in a peculiar fake English accent) to put some serious effort in if they want to 'sip martinis' in 'a hot bikini.' Credits reveal that this prostitution anthem involved contributions from six writers, four of whom are male." Ouch!" MORE: YAHOO

Oh, Obama's likable alright. A great speaker/actor, handsome, charming, intelligent and with an adorable family. But the Americans polled got this one partially right: he isn't trustworthy. But they got it wrong when they still, inexplicably, believe he has a vision for the country. Yeah, for serving multi-national corporations at the expense of American people. He has a vision--but it only helps the 1%. Which is why we did not vote for Romney. Obama is very honest and trustworthy after you bribe him with campaign contributions. Too bad that the turncoat Obama abandoned unions as soon as he got into office, after claiming he'd put on his comfortable shoes and march with unions if needed. I guess union workers didn't pay him off as much as corporations who outsource American jobs. And for those of you are so simple as to think that Obama put forward jobs bills that were squashed by those awful Republicans, please explain why he is now pushing the Trans Pacific Partnership, which will make outsourcing even easier so that the US will lose more jobs. But of course you can't explain the TPP--Obama is keeping it secret and trying to fast track it with limited discussion in Congress. That's how bad the TPP is for America. If you knew what it was, you'd be against it. So keep it secret. Obama, who campaigned on greater government transparency, is actively seeking to kill jobs and yet people are still defending his indefensible positions. He's a lying crook.

NEXT MAGAZINE by KaREEM MCJAGGER: Lady Bunny brings her disco party to The Monster on Sundays and gets the dance floor bumpin'
Call us presumptuous, but we’re declaring that no one in the New York nightlife scene takes dancing more seriously than the disco queens of the West Village. When we heard that The Monster was bringing in Lady Bunny for a monthly disco tea dance, we knew it would be a must-see and must-hear event. It was manager and fellow DJ Mitch Ferrino who had the idea to bring Bunny to The Monster. “It just seemed to make sense with Splash closing... Lady Bunny, disco, and The Monster just all seemed like the perfect recipe for something magical.” Lady Bunny, who started spinning back in the days of Pyramid, Limelight and Panty Girdles, was happy to fill the void left once Disco Sundays at Splash were no more. “I really miss playing that kind of music on a regular basis. The Monster approached me and asked to do it the first Sunday of each month, and it seemed perfect... I used to go to The Monster’s Sunday tea dance years ago and have a blast! When they played vinyl, ok?” The diverse crowd, was living for Lady Bunny’s set, especially that shirtless muscle queen lip-synching every word to the circle of spectators surrounding him. Speaking of lip-synching, we spotted Bunny’s Hot Mess cast mate and Drag Race alumna Dwayne Milan in the crowd as well as her longtime friends and nightlife personalities Angel and Brandon Olson. At its peak, the density of the dance floor rivaled that of a Saturday night, but once a bit more space opened up, couples took the opportunity to show off their partner-dancing skills, earning cheers and applause from their fellow patrons. “Something takes over in us gays when disco is playing,” Mitch added. “It’s like we all remember at the same time that this is OUR music, and we say ‘Oh, that’s right, we’re gay! Which means we really actually care about each other!’ There's a sense of camaraderie and love that takes over the entire club.” “This is an age group who didn’t sit on the dance floor with cellphones,” Lady Bunny pointed out, “They danced. With parrots and poppers! So it’s a thrill to get them revved, and I love to interact with them on the floor to songs like ‘Hot Shot’ and ‘Don't Leave Me This Way’.” Bunny was ecstatic to team up with The Monster to start a new party in her own historic back yard, bucking the uptown trend in gay nightlife. “I live within walking distance of it, and I love the idea of not all gay nightlife being in Hell’s Kitchen… I say let’s preserve our neighborhoods. And not just with a Stonewall plaque, either. Let’s head on down there and keep having fun!” NEXTMAGAZINE

What? How could the FDA approve GMO salmon? I wonder if it has anything to do with Obama giving a senior position on the FDA to former Monsanto big wig Michael Taylor? While Michelle Obama advocates healthier eating and her family eats organic food in the White House, they enable this frankenfish to be approved for everyone's else's consumption. Just another example of what a soulless, corrupt "leader" Obama is. Absolutely indefensible. And these GMO fish could mingle with untainted fish and spoil all fish forever. For those of you who think that Obama wants to help anyone except big business even if it means endangering our health, please explain this one.
PETITION: The Food and Drug Administration is considering approving a genetically-engineered salmon. Never before has a genetically-modified animal been approved for human consumption. And yet, the FDA's review has been insufficient, failing to consider broad environmental and public health risks from GMO salmon. The company that is producing these salmon says they won't be able to cross-breed, and yet their own data suggest that 5% of the eggs they produce and transport around the world may not be sterile. If released accidentally, these transgenic fish could severely endanger natural fish populations. As a fish designed to grow twice as fast as natural salmon, these engineered fish may also increase human exposure to growth hormones, anti-microbial drugs, and disease. Salmon is one of the world's healthiest foods, and a fish celebrated by native cultures and modern consumers alike. We simply cannot afford to jeopardize this great resource and put the environment and public health in danger. But that's exactly what will happen FDA rushes through approval of genetically engineered salmon without a much stronger review of the risks. SIGN:

In defiance of widespread grassroots opposition to fracking, Governor Cuomo is attempting to lift New York's ban on liquefied natural gas infrastructure.
To be transported by truck, rail or ship, natural gas is super-cooled until it condenses into a liquid. Governor Cuomo's proposal would make it vastly easier to transport fracked gas into and around New York by legalizing the construction of facilities for liquefying fracked gas, fueling heavy trucks with fracked gas and even exporting fracked gas overseas.1 2 If we don't stop Governor Cuomo, he will usher in a major buildout of new fracked gas infrastructure, encouraging expanded fracking in nearby states and increasing industry pressure to lift New York's moratorium on fracking. Governor Cuomo's Department of Environmental Conservation is accepting public comments on this dangerous proposal for just over another week. Lifting the ban on liquefied natural gas infrastructure may be a trial balloon to test the potential response to lifting New York's fracking moratorium, so we have to take this comment period very seriously -- will you submit a comment now? In the wake of Superstorm Sandy, Governor Cuomo swore that New York would take the lead in confronting climate change. But lifting New York's ban on liquefied natural gas infrastructure isn't climate leadership. The science is clear: If we make a massive, expensive investment in fracked gas infrastructure, we will tank the climate. That's because investing in fracked gas infrastructure would incentivize the production of natural gas vehicles, power plants and export facilities, which would in turn encourage even more fracking. Extracting, transporting and burning fracked gas produces massive amounts of greenhouse gases. Liquefied natural gas is even worse for the climate because it has to go through an energy-intensive process of being cooled to about -260 degrees fahrenheit. Worse still, fracked gas displaces truly clean energy sources like wind and solar, delaying our transition to a sustainable economy.3 Earlier this year, when Governor Cuomo attempted to lift New York's moratorium on fracking, a deluge of more than 200,000 public comments killed his proposed regulations -- so we know Cuomo will be watching how many comments come in on his proposal to lift New York's ban on liquefied natural gas infrastructure. I hope you'll submit a comment now. Tell Governor Cuomo: Don't encourage fracking by lifting New York's ban on liquefied natural gas infrastructure. Click here to submit a public comment. AFGHANISTAN: Anyone recall Obama saying we'd be out of Afghanistan by 2014? Not really. We plan to leave 8,000-12,000 troops there. And get this: our troops will be immune to prosecution in Afghan courts and Kerry refuses to apologize for deadly raids on peoples homes. Even though the war is supposedly over and we are supposed out by 2014, the US maintains high troop levels, refuses to apologize for unnecessary murders, and what our soldiers do isn't subject to Afghan law. Isn't is a miracle the way we spread peace and democracy? The White House and Afghanistan have reached agreement on a bilateral security pact that would preserve a U.S. military occupation beyond 2014. Under the deal, the U.S. military would maintain several bases, and its troops would be immune from prosecution in Afghan courts. The United States would not conduct military operations "unless mutually agreed." Afghan officials say they have kept their demand for a White House apology over deadly raids on Afghan homes. But in Washington, Secretary of State John Kerry said an apology is off the table. Secretary of State John Kerry: "But let me be clear: President Karzai didn’t ask for an apology. There was no discussion of an apology. There will be — there is no — I mean, it’s just not even on the table. He didn’t ask for it; we’re not discussing it. And that is not the subject that we have been talking about. What we’ve been talking about are the terms of the BSA [Bilateral Security Agreement] itself." The U.S.-Afghan pact now goes before an Afghan council of elders, known as a loya jirga, meeting in Afghanistan today. If approved, the United States is expected to maintain a force of around 8,000 to 12,000 troops after the formal withdrawal next year. PAKISTAN: The US is bombing a religious school after it pledged to stop the drone attacks? Do you think that might create new generations of terrorists hell-bent on attacking the US? It does. Maybe you should familiarize yourself with the murders the Nobel Peace Prize winner Obama is responsible for and you won't be so shocked when things like the Boston Marathon bombings occur. Of course there are crazy anti-US terrorists out waiting to attack us. But do we really need to create more? The United States has carried out a new drone strike in Pakistan despite a reported pledge to halt the attacks during peace talks with the Taliban. U.S. missiles struck a religious school in northwestern Pakistan earlier today, killing up to five people. The strike comes one day after Pakistan’s foreign minister said the United States had promised to hold back on drone strikes while the Pakistani government tries to engage the Taliban in negotiations. Pakistan accused the United States of derailing peace talks earlier this month after a strike that killed Taliban chief Hakimullah Mehsud.

"For Sean, the Bible is his FOUNDATION for investing. He explained to me how there is actually a “Biblical Money Code” woven into Scripture. Sean says it is this Biblical Money Code that took him from making a mere $15,000 a year to now giving away up to $50,000 a year. Sean also credits this code with helping him turn his father’s $40,000 retirement account into $396,000. Certain investment titans, Sean says, such as Warren Buffett and John Templeton, have already used this code to amass billions. What Sean had to say impressed me so much that I asked him to put a presentation together that reveals how anyone could use this “Biblical Money Code.” (Click here to watch it now) I’ve personally watched this presentation several times and it is already spreading virally. During the video, Sean uses the teachings of King Solomon, Jesus of Nazareth, and the Apostle Paul to show how anyone can get out of debt . . . make sound investments . . . and morally build substantial wealth. Sean even reveals a “debilitating ‘financial sin’ that blinds many . . . and could be costing you up to 41% of your life savings at this very moment.” What’s so deceiving about this sin is how innocent and safe it appears at first." Any day now, the first genetically modified animal ever to enter our food supply, AquaBounty salmon, could be approved by the Food and Drug Administration. This fish hasn't been proven safe for humans. But the FDA may approve it based on a limited, flawed, and inadequate study — despite the fact that the same study identified elevated allergy-causing potential,1 and elevated levels of the IGF-1 growth hormone, which is linked to colon, prostate and breast cancers. That’s why we’re joining Senator Jeff Merkley in a last-ditch effort to demand the FDA reject approval of GMO salmon. Tell the FDA: Don't approve GMO salmon. Click here to sign automatically. AquaBounty's frankenfish is an Atlantic salmon, spliced with genes from an eel pout and growth hormone from a Chinook salmon. The result is a salmon that produces growth hormone year-round and grows twice as fast. Were GMO salmon to escape its farms into the wild, the fish would pose a serious risk to wild salmon populations. The GMO salmon consume five times more food than wild salmon, and are more aggressive. Introducing these traits into the wild population would be serious – and irreversible.2 Separate from any risks, the GMO salmon are less healthy to eat – producing less of the beneficial omega-3 fatty acids than non-GMO salmon – and a less efficient food source – requiring 1.5 to 8 kilograms of wild fish to produce one kilogram of farmed salmon. Worse still, without GMO labeling, these frankenfish would be totally unlabeled in stores, and indistinguishable from other farmed salmon, so consumers will have no way of making an informed choice. I HONESTLY DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS THE BEST SOLUTION, BUT WE NEED TO BE INVESTIGATING SOME KINDA SOLUTIONS! In Switzerland a petition from 100,000 people, or about 1.25% of the population, creates a public referendum. By this means, last March, Swiss voters created strict limits on executive pay.[1] On November 24, the Swiss will vote on whether to take a further step -- limiting executive pay to no more than 12 times the lowest salary in the company. Such a maximum wage policy allows the CEO pay increases, but only if workers get at least a twelfth as much. If the Swiss can do it, why can't the U.S.? The Swiss are also set to vote, on a date yet to be set, to create a guaranteed basic income of $2,800 (2,500 Swiss francs) per month for every adult.[2] That's about $16 per hour for a full-time worker, but it's guaranteed even for those who can't find work. You know what country can afford such a measure even more easily, given its vast supplies of wealth? The United States of America. Tell Congress and the President now! Here in the United States, had the minimum wage kept pace with productivity since the 1960s it would now be $21.72 an hour, or $3,722 a month.[3] The Congressional proposal of $10.10 an hour, which President Obama now says he supports, equals $1,751 a month for a fulltime job. The actual U.S. minimum wage of $7.25, which does not apply to all workers, makes $1,242 a month. But only if you can find work. That's less than half what the Swiss are voting on, and Swiss workers also have their healthcare paid for, public transportation widely available, quality education and higher education free or affordable, 14 weeks paid parental leave, and a nearly endless list of other advantages provided by the government. A basic income guarantee, currently practiced in Alaska and once supported by President Richard Nixon and the U.S. House of Representatives, would be far more efficient than targeted support programs, because every individual would receive the exact same check, with no stigma attached to it; and, yes -- believe it or not -- people who could find work would still work.[4] Switzerland has a greater percentage of its population made up by immigrants than the United States does. Switzerland has four national languages. What allows Switzerland to practice democracy so much more effectively? Two major parts of the answer are obvious. Switzerland doesn't fight wars, and it doesn't redistribute its wealth upward creating an overclass of multibillionaires. Push the U.S. government in a better direction, following the Swiss example, by clicking here. ROOTSACTION

HUFFPO: Single-Payer Advocates: It Hurts To Say I Told You So "We may have an 'I-told-you-so' moment, but it's hard to get any pleasure out of it knowing how many people are actually going to get hurt," said Stephanie Woolhandler, a New York-based doctor who co-founded Physicians for a National Health Program, a group that pushes for universal health care. "You had a bad system, and you're putting a patch on it using the same flawed insurance companies that got us here in the first place," she said. Single-payer advocates favor scrapping private health insurance and enrolling everyone in a program akin to Medicare with a comprehensive set of benefits that is financed through taxation, one whose primary focus is providing medical care, not earning profits. To them, the messiness of Obamacare's infancy was inevitable; the law is built upon a fragmented health care system and a private insurance industry that they believe, by definition, is focused on profit first and the needs of its customers second. HERE'S AN EXCERPT: If You Shop on Thanksgiving, You Are Part of the Problem by Matt Walsh That's our entire economic system: buy things. Everybody buy. It doesn't matter what you buy. Just buy. It doesn't matter if you don't have money. Just buy. Our entire civilization now rests on the assumption that, no matter what else happens, we will all continue to buy lots and lots of things. Buy, buy, buy, buy, buy. And then buy a little more. Don't create, or produce, or discover -- just buy. Never save, never invest, never cut back -- just buy. Buy what you don't need with money you don't have. Buy when you're happy. Buy when you're sad. Buy when you're hungry. Buy when you want to lose weight. Buy an iPhone. Six months have passed, here, buy another iPhone. Go online and buy things. Go to the mall and buy things. On your way, stop and buy some more things. Buy things for every occasion. Buy things to celebrate. Buy things to mourn. Buy things to keep up with the trends. Buy things while you're buying things, and then buy a couple more things after you're done buying things. If you want it -- buy it. If you don't want it -- buy it. Don't make it -- buy it. Don't grow it -- buy it. Don't cultivate it -- buy it. We need you to buy. We don't need you to be a human, we don't need you to be a citizen, we don't need you to be a capitalist, we just need you to be a consumer, a buyer. If you are alive you must buy. Buy like you breathe, only more frequently. How appropriate, then, that a holiday created by our ancestors as an occasion to give thanks for what they had, now morphs into a frenzied consumerist ritual where we descend upon shopping malls to accumulate more things we don't need. Our great grandparents enjoyed a meal and praised the Lord for the food on the table and the friends and family gathered around it. We, having slightly altered the tradition, instead elect to bum-rush elderly women and trample over children to get our hands on cheap TVs. MORE: HUFFPO

SALON: Since Girouex confessed to having sex with four underage boys, eight additional young men have come forward saying they were sexually violated by the 31-year-old pastor. Girouex, who is not longer a pastor at the Victory Fellowship Church, believed that he could rape away the gay by “praying while he had sexual contact” with the boys, all in an effort to keep them “sexually pure” for God. According to reports, he told police that “when they would ejaculate, they would be getting rid of the evil thoughts in their mind.” MORE: SALON.COM

The bottom could fall out of talks to save the planet in 24 hours unless we act to save them. Years ago, the US and our allies made a big promise to help the poorest countries deal with and decrease climate change. But now we are threatening to backtrack. If the US reneges on this pledge tomorrow, hope for a global deal could totally fall apart. But Secretary of State Kerry has made climate leadership the defining issue of his career. Let’s make sure he knows that it’s his call to make! Send Kerry a message to make sure he knows we are watching and expecting him to act -- his office will get it right away, and the Avaaz team at the talks will give all our messages to his staff on the ground. Click here to send an urgent message: In 2009, Secretary Clinton pledged to raise $100 Billion yearly to build a climate resilient world. But while some immediate cash came through, virtually no country has yet made new contributions to this bold plan. The financial crisis has made it very difficult to fulfill our promise to the poorest countries. But we are still giving billions to fossil fuel companies that are polluting our world and causing global warming. It is nuts! The poorer countries are now demanding that the rich meet their original promises before they sign up to more commitments at talks in Warsaw. So far our government is saying they we won’t give. But if we can get them to commit funds, other countries will follow. We have the power to keep everyone at the table to hammer out a crucial deal. We only have 24 hours left. Let’s make sure Kerry knows we wants him to keep our word to the most poor, and save the deal to save the planet. Click now to send a message: SIGN HERE: AVAAZ Climate change is perhaps the largest, most complex global problem humanity has faced, and for all its scale, it's hard to find things we can do that even make a dent. It's easy to lose hope in the face of a challenge like that. But this is one of those times where we can make a real difference right now -- one that could save the process that can save the world. Let's not let it go without making our voices heard.

An 8 year-old Yemeni child bride, a mere girl, recently died on her wedding night from internal hemorrhaging. She was married to a man five times her age. As disgusting as the tradition of marrying off children to much older men is, it is common practice in Yemen. More than a quarter of the female population are married before the age of 15. In 2010, a 12 year-old girl passed away after struggling for three days in labor, attempting to give birth to a baby. Countless other children have been subjected to similar atrocities. At only 8 years-old, one child bride in Yemen sustained internal injuries so severe, she died.

The Obama Administration has spent multiple years and over $634 million to build the Obamacare website, Despite all of the time and money poured into the site, it still remains broken and glitchy. The 8-Hour Sleep Myth: How I Learned That Everything I Knew About Sleep Was Wrong by Lynn Stuart Parramore We've been told over and over that the 8-hour sleep is ideal, but our bodies have been telling us something else. The 8-Hour Sleep Myth Pursuing the truth about sleep means winding your way through a labyrinth of science, consumerism and myth. Researchers have had barely a clue about what constitutes “normal” sleep. Is it how many hours you sleep? A certain amount of time in a particular phase? The pharmaceutical industry recommends drug-induced oblivion, which, it turns out, doesn’t even work. The average time spent sleeping increases by only a few minutes with the use of prescription sleep aids. And -- surprise! -- doctors have just linked sleeping pills to cancer. We have memory foam mattresses, sleep clinics, hotel pillow concierges, and countless others strategies to put us to bed. And yet we complain about sleep more than ever. MORE: ALTERNET

I was in a public toilet and had just sat down, when I heard a voice from the next cubicle, he said “Hi!, how are you?” Embarrassed, I said, “I’m doing fine”. The voice said “So what are you up to?”. I said, “Just doing the same as you, sitting here!”. From next door, “Can I come over?”. Annoyed, I said, "rather busy right now”. The voice said, “Listen, I will have to call you back, there’s an idiot next door answering all my questions"

Obama is fast-tracking this devil of a trade agreement in secrecy. Hundreds of Congress members have written him asking that the secret document be made public. But he can't reveal it--if we knew what was in it, no one would support it. It kills jobs and it kills wages, making it easier to outsource the few jobs we have to other countries who will work much cheaper than we will. The TPP will also prevent AIDS meds for from becoming generic worldwide and there's some crazy stuff about intellectual property rights. After we protested SOPA, he backed away from it but included in this trade deal. Even though only 5 of the 29 chapters deal with trade. When Obama has spoken about this, he has spouted pure gibberish. Few of you will take the time to acquaint yourselves with the Trans Pacific Partnership, you'll realize that helping working Americans is the last thing on his mind. He works for whoever pays him--not you. He's handsome, intelligent and a great speaker. But don't let this hide the ugly truth that far from being some civil rights leader or advocate of workers, Obama has proven that corrupt good ol' boys come in all colors.

SEE, WALMART? YOU DON'T HAVE TO SCREW YOUR WORKERS TO MAKE A PROFIT! It's not just the bulk toilet paper and $1.50 hot dog combos. There's more going on here. 1. The company pays a living wage. Costco's CEO and president, Craig Jelinek, has publicly endorsed raising the federal minimum wage to $10.10 an hour, and he takes that to heart. The company's starting pay is $11.50 per hour, and the average employee wage is $21 per hour, not including overtime. Most other big box retailers start their employees at minimum wage. 2. Workers get benefits. About 88 percent of Costco employees have company-sponsored health insurance, according to David Sherwood, Costco's Director of Financial Planning and Investor Relations. "I just think people need to make a living wage with health benefits,” Jelinek told Bloomberg. “It also puts more money back into the economy and creates a healthier country. It’s really that simple.” READ THE REST: HUFFPO

ELIZABETH WARREN: "The suggestion that we have become a country where those living in poverty fight each other for a handful of crumbs that fall of the tables of the very wealthy is fundamentally wrong." She then goes on to denounce Chained CPI, which Obama offered as a bargaining tool, as nothing but a cut to Social Security. Few voters want to cut Social Security. So why is our government talking about cutting it? So we can afford more weapons and starve seniors so that CEOs can get bigger bonuses?

I've just seen MSNBC's Chuck Todd discussing how the White House is disappointed that the insurance industry isn't publicly supporting Obamacare. I don't know what to make of that notion--or whether it's even true. Clearly, the insurance companies would much rather Obamacare not take effect so that we're stuck with the same crazy system we have now, in which health care costs are the #1 cause of bankruptcy in the country and you can be denied or kicked off your coverage if you're actually ill and need it. In discussing it further, Chuck explained that the health care industry killed Hillary's attempt at reform in the 90s, so Obama decided to build on our existing system of insurance rather than start with a totally new model like single payer. Then he explained that the White House hoped insurance would be more appreciative of the ACA since it was crafted to bring the insurance companies more business, that additional business being the additional customers who could now afford insurance at a cheaper price. Hungh? I thought this was crafted to help people access health care. It was crafted as a gift to the insurance industry? And this is being openly admitted on the liberal news channel which is more likely to support Obama than any other? We should have gone for real reform. My mom (a former nurse) checked on my existing plan and Obamacare does not reduce the price one dime for me. Although, I suppose they can't kick me off the plan if I become seriously ill. Which this whole process is making me. I suppose I could quit my current plan--this is America and I'm still free, right? Actually, no. The ACA's mandate forces me to buy insurance or be fined. I try to be optimistic and tell myself that anything the Republicans want to shut down the government to prevent must be a good thing. I try to tell myself that while not single payer, which of us many wanted and which every other industrialized nation seems to be managing with, the ACA is a step in the right direction. But when you hear the more democratic-leaning TV news station openly admitting that Obamacare is designed to benefit the insurance industry rather than people, you're forced to see the difference between foolish optimism and waking up to how our government works. It works against us--those who elected them. And let's not forget the meeting where Obama invited big pharma to the White House with no press allowed before Obamacare could even be created--just to make sure that that other health-related industry knew they would still be able to give us less for more. So much for the transparency that Obama campaigned on. This is a shambles. And how about the latest report which claims that senior White House staff knew the roll-out had kinks and that there was "scant" testing? The end effect is that you start to distrust the government's capability to handle health care. So you give up and go back to your pitiful system of private insurance. A tea partier's dream come true! HUFFPO: Obamacare Report: Obama Administration Knew About Health Care Law's Rollout Risks Last Spring MORE: HUFFPO

DON'T LET HIM! The Trans-Pacific Partnership is a hush-hush trade pact that threatens millions of Internet users’ rights to connect and communicate. Until recently the agreement had been shrouded in secrecy. But now that WikiLeaks has released some of the text,1 we know that the TPP would let corporations monitor our online activities, cut off our Internet access, delete content and impose fines. The TPP is that bad. And it’s on a fast track to getting U.S. approval — without any public review or input.2 This is why the Free Press Action Fund has joined with RootsAction to stop the TPP. Join Our Campaign: Tell Congress and the White House to Reject the TPP. Former U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk has admitted that if the public knew about the TPP, there’s no way it would pass. Some of you may wonder what I have against corporations, since I'm always ranting about how Obama and the rest of our government is bought by them to legislate in their favor. I have nothing against corporations who are ethical. But many are so hungry for profit that they'll do the unthinkable. Nestle has already tried this in South America. And here they go in Pakistan. Buying water sources and selling it back to people, since guess what? We all need water everyday. This isn't something that's happening in So. America and Pakistan--we buy Nestle products all the time and we need to send the message that we're aware of and won't stand for their unscrupulous actions. Please sign if you agree. "Nestlé is draining developing countries’ groundwater to make its Pure Life bottled water, destroying countries’ natural resources before forcing its people to buy their own water back. Now Nestlé is moving into Pakistan and sucking up the local water supply, rendering entire areas uninhabitable in order to sell mineral-enriched water to the upper class as well as people in the US and EU. Meanwhile the poor watch their wells run dry and their children fall ill from dirty water. Tell Nestlé to stop making Pakistan's villages uninhabitable by stealing their water. Nestlé’s aggressive water grab is already descending like a plague on parts of Pakistan. In the small village of Bhati Dilwan, villagers have watched their water table sink hundreds of feet since Nestlé moved in. Children are getting sick from the foul-smelling sludge they’re forced to choke down. Meanwhile, Nestlé spends millions marketing “Pure Life” to wealthy Americans, Europeans, and Pakistanis who can afford to watch their kids grow up healthy. This scenario is played out again and again in countries around the globe. But this is where we say: enough! Dirty water kills more children around the world than AIDS, malaria, war, and traffic accidents combined -- and Nestlé has a big hand in it. At the World Water Forum in 2000, Nestlé led the way in fighting against defining access to water a universal right. Nestlé and other big corporations won out, and government officials around the globe officially downgraded water’s classification to a “need” instead, meaning it could be captured, commoditized, and exploited by major corporations without regard for local populations. Tell Nestlé: Water is a human right. Stop stealing it from communities around the world." SIGN: SUMOFUS

Nearly six months after Edward Snowden blew the whistle on the National Security Agency's massive violations of civil liberties, Congress is considering what to do about it. Tell your senators and representative to reject bogus "reforms" -- and force the NSA to abide by constitutional rights. Click here to send that message now. Dianne Feinstein has just pushed an NSA-friendly bill through the Senate Intelligence Committee, which she chairs. The bill "is a big step backwards for privacy," says ACLU legislative counsel Michelle Richardson. It would "entrench the current spying programs and give them explicit Congressional authorization to continue." Let Congress know you're fed up with such Big Brother maneuvers! Senator Feinstein's bill "would make clear in no uncertain terms that communication records like phone, email, and internet data can be collected without even an ounce of suspicion, pursuant to the so-called privacy rules already in place," Richardson points out. And: "For the first time in history, Congress would explicitly and intentionally authorize dragnet domestic spying programs targeting every day Americans." Fortunately, there's a major alternative gaining momentum -- a bill introduced by Senator Patrick Leahy and Representative Jim Sensenbrenner. As the Los Angeles Times noted in a recent editorial, "the Leahy-Sensenbrenner bill would allow the government to acquire phone data only as part of an investigation tied to a specific suspected terrorist or foreign agent or an individual in contact with him. Bulk collection would end." If that sounds good to you, click here. The Leahy-Sensenbrenner bill -- dubbed the USA FREEDOM Act -- is a real step toward fully ending the NSA's outrageous abuses. The Electronic Frontier Foundation has provided this assessment: "If passed, we believe this bill would be a substantial improvement to America's laws regarding mass surveillance. … However, we consider this bill to be a floor, not a ceiling. The bill only touches on a few of the issues surrounding the NSA's invasive and unconstitutional surveillance. There are a variety of improvements that can and should be made to ensure the bill actually reins in the NSA and is less susceptible to being undermined by aggressive legal arguments in the FISA court or elsewhere. "We know that no bill is perfect, but the USA FREEDOM Act could well be our best shot at fixing some of the worst problems with NSA surveillance. That's why we're urging members of Congress to support the bill, work to improve the bill through the amendment process, and above all to resist efforts to undermine the privacy protections offered by the bill." In the next minute, you can do two important things to strike a blow against NSA surveillance: * Click here to email a clear message -- against the Feinstein bill and for the Leahy-Sensenbrenner bill -- to your senators and representative. We've had the biggest hurricane/typhoon and the biggest tornado in the same year. Rachel mentions that the US is sending aid to the Philippines and that with these two storms, we've raised the speed limit for storms. What she doesn't do is admit that if we really wanted to do something, we should stop the US from being the biggest world's biggest (along with China) contributors to carbon emissions. I love seeing our forces used as rescue workers instead of warriors, but an ounce of prevention... We've got to start thinking about who's going to give up what--or face more monster storms with increasing frequency.

Obama won both elections by organizing online support more efficiently than any candidate ever in both elections. Under Obama, the NSA now spies on all of our many emails and phone calls and has a gigantic database in cahoots with every server and mobile service carrier. Yet for healthcare, his "crowning" achievement, the man chooses a crappy site that doesn't work right? I don't get it. Can't the Obamacare website just synch up with the NSA? They can fill out all of our info for us since they already have it? I hope that Obamacare succeeds and one day goes even further to be single payer, when Republicans realize that the country won't implode if we get cheaper health care. But doesn't the level of this administration's internet expertise seem to be very developed when he wants to get something (our votes, campaign contributions, emails, phone calls) but not so well developed when he is giving us something like healthcare?

A man escapes from a prison where he’s been locked up for 15 years He breaks into a house and inside, he finds a young couple in bed. He ties him to a chair. While tying the wife to the bed, the convict gets on top of her, kisses her neck, then gets up and goes into the bathroom. While he’s in there, the husband whispers over to his wife, “Listen, this guy is an escaped convict. Look at his clothes! He’s probably spent a lot of time in jail and hasn't seen a woman in years. I saw how he kissed your neck. If he wants sex, don’t resist, don’t complain. Do whatever he tells you. Satisfy him no matter how much he nauseates you. This guy is obviously very dangerous. If he gets angry, he’ll kill us both. Be strong, honey. I love you!” She responds: “He wasn't kissing my neck. He was whispering in my ear. He told me that he’s gay, thinks you’re cute, and asked if we had any Vaseline. I told him it was in the bathroom. Be strong honey. I love you, too.”

This long but super-informative piece on Hillary's possible competitor is so well-researched that they even knew what Elizabeth Warren's answering service message's prompts at her old job were. If she wants to pull Democrats in a direction that makes sense for the dying middle class--or are they calling them the "working poor" today?--I welcome someone to compete against the inevitable candidate, Hillary. Their word, "inevitable." Sounds kinda creepy, as if we don't really have a choice even when we vote. Inevitable, like lobbyists and global warming. Doesn't sound too hot to me. Yet this excerpt is a fine recommendation for Elizabeth. We need a "national furor" so maybe she can set off another one. NEW REPUBLIC: "The following month, during her very first banking committee hearing, Warren again waited patiently for her turn to speak—then promptly set off a national furor. “Tell me a little bit about the last few times you’ve taken the biggest financial institutions on Wall Street all the way to a trial,” she asked a table full of bank regulators. The question, though eminently reasonable, violated an unstated rule of committee protocol, in which members of Congress are allowed to rant and rave at length but generally abstain from humiliating appointees, especially from their own party. An awkward pause ensued, at which point Warren flared her eyes and thrust her head forward, as if to say, “Yes, this is really happening.” Until that instant, the regulators believed the world worked one way; suddenly, it was working another. One winced hemorrhoidally as he searched for a place to fix his gaze. The head of an agency called the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) appeared to whimper before allowing that the threat of trial was unnecessary for keeping the banks in check—about as counterfactual a notion as the industry has ever produced. A third regulator chimed in affirmatively. For a few minutes, Warren looked like the only sane person in a mental ward. A video of the exchange has been viewed online more than a million times." This is Huffpo's lead article today. Lefty webpages suggest that Warren was a hawk on Iran or that her economic policy took a backseat to her foreign policy. Something to watch out for. Thanks to Ohio's Sherrod Brown for acting like a true progressive democrat. While others (including Obama) are discussing how much we should cut from Social Security, Sherrod Brown boldly says: EXPAND IT! Don't include something broke, old people need now more than ever. Don't yank away the safety net you've promised them their entire lives in a time of recession. If we're lucky, we're all gonna get old. (And yes that was my sly attempt to try to lump myself in with those who have yet to get completely over the hill. Did it work? Don't answer that!) This is also smart politics. While I despise the Republican agenda, that party is so outrageously bold that they'll gladly shut down the government, have our credit rating dropped or whatever it takes to get their rotted agenda accomplished. They're ruthless and they stick together with a clear agenda. Unlike Obama's constant reaching across the aisle to a party which doesn't even believe he was born here. Did it work in his first term? Well, it ain't gonna work in his second term either. And voters identify and trust politicians with strong stances even if they disagree with their stance--as Chris Christie just proved in New Jersey. He's an attack dog who'll fight for what he believes in. It's more appealing than someone without clear convictions. Now that Republicans have record low numbers in the polls because they just shut down the government with demands so pitiful that they were forced to give them up, why not seize this moment to denounce the whole party as bad for the country and reckless? LOUDLY AND OFTEN AND VICIOUSLY. Just how they'd capitalize on any failures that the Dems are responsible for, from the glitches in the Obamacare roll-out to the perceived failure in Benghazi. Republicans actually are calling that Benghazi-Gate when it wasn't that big of a deal unless you watch and believe watch Fox News. Then take the argument out of the GOP playing field of how much we cut and say DON'T CUT YOU CUT A DAMN DIME FROM SOCIAL SECURITY. EXPAND IT! Just as Sherrod Brown says in the clip below. Most Americans don't want to cut Social Security, including many Republicans. We rely on it now more than ever. So use this moment to say "We want to expand Social Security, so we would certainly never dream of cutting it, you freaks!" Then even if you don't get the program expanded, it might not get cut at all. It's called bargaining. And showing the majority of voters who don't want cuts who will fight against cuts so that Democrats can actually seem to have a clear-cut and popular agenda. Why wouldn't Democrats think of this themselves? Maybe because these blue dog Democrats, conservative Democrats, corporate Democrats or whatever you want to call the kind of Democrat that Obama is, actually would tamper with cutting the social safety net. And has already offered cuts like Chained CPI, which puts democrats in a hideously weak bargaining position. Why are only progressive democrats like Sherrod Brown talking about this? Because many Democrats seem to enjoy caving so much that they barely seem like Democrats any more. Maybe it's time for the true progressives who're in line with what most Americans want on so many issues from gun control, single payer health care, legalizing weed, stopping the US's role as world police, making the wealthy and corporations pay their fair share in taxes, to ZERO cuts to Social Security--to progress beyond the creaky democratic party which clearly no longer serves us. Or sit and enjoy being robbed by your elected officials of $ you've already earned. The sad thing is, this petition leads to a donate page after you've signed it. We have to pay to ensure that we don't get robbed. Classic. WATCH SHERROD GO! BLODPROGRESSIVES

Things are so bad that sometimes two-income households are on food stamps. And we're cutting them? As we entertain ourselves with images of royal weddings and "real" housewives with nose jobs who enjoy cocktails for lunch, this is what's really going on in America. There is a reason why people say it is an "invisible" epidemic: chronic hunger in America may be reaching record rates, but we still can't or won't talk about it. More than 46 million people rely on food stamps to feed themselves and their families. They are someone's parents or children, they are co-workers and friends. Yet, if you ask many Americans, they will say that they don't know anyone receiving federal assistance. They think that food insecurity is a problem that happens to someone else. Someone they couldn't possibly know or be. But here's the problem: when something like hunger stays invisible, people don't think about it very much. They don't connect it to their own experiences. And when Republicans slash benefits and force millions of struggling families to get by on even less, people don't get angry when they need to be angry. We simply cannot afford to allow this crisis to remain invisible anymore -- we need your help. If you have received food stamps or know someone who has, please tell us your story. We need to show America that hunger can touch anyone, anywhere. And we need to make them realize that messing with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits is simply unacceptable. Republicans in Congress know exactly who they are hurting when they cut benefits -- often, their own constituents are suffering. But they still think they can get away with doing it. After all, people who need assistance often have too much to deal with to effectively fight back. And most other people think that hunger could never affect them. Nothing could be further from the truth. In this difficult economy, with its stagnant wages and soaring costs, the vast majority of us are one bit of bad luck away from falling into the federal safety net. We should all be fighting to protect these benefits, because we never know when we ourselves will need them. But people don't realize that until they can see themselves standing in another person's shoes. That is why talking about our experiences of hunger is so important -- and why we are asking you to share your food stamp story with us today. Because this fight isn't about some abstract program that might help someone somewhere else. It is about our neighbors, friends and family. And ultimately, it is about us, too. SHARE YOUR STORY: DEMOCRACYFORAMERICA

We love to mindlessly wave a flag and bleat "Support the troops!" while the politicians we vote for plot to slash veteran's benefits. I would imagine that veterans would prefer a larger check every month than any flag-waving or parade where we pretend to honor them when it's quick and convenient and then ignore politicians who want to make their lives harder after we're done with their services. It's sick. PETITION: This weekend, across our nation we honor our Veterans, but there are some in Washington who are plotting to cut the benefits that they have earned. In addition to cutting our Social Security benefits, the chained CPI is a cut for those who currently receive Veterans benefits or will receive them in the future. In fact, the chained CPI benefit cut would double hit Veterans who receive Social Security. Email your Congressperson and tell them to honor those who have faithfully served our nation by rejecting all cuts to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and Veterans benefits. Any cut to Social Security would heavily impact the 40% of veterans who rely on the Social Security benefits they earned. But the chained CPI would not only cut Social Security benefits—it would also cut Veterans Disability Compensation, Military Retirement Pay and Veterans Pension. That means that a disabled veteran would receive tens of thousands of dollars less in benefits that they have earned with their sacrifice. Tell your Congressperson that veterans have sacrificed enough—Tell them to reject all benefit cuts to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and Veterans benefits. Our Veterans deserve a cost-of-living formula that accurately reflects the costs they face. The people who rely most on Social Security—the elderly, disabled and veterans—spend more on health care than the general population, and those costs have been rising rapidly. That’s why Congress needs to listen to the people and implement the more generous CPI-E, which puts the cost of living formula in line with what Social Security beneficiaries actually spend their benefits on. Stand with Veterans—Stand against all benefit cuts to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and Veterans benefits. SIGN: WIREDFORCHANGE

The iconic sex kitten from Paris Is Burning is the subject of a new play in NYC called The Murder Of Venus Xtravaganza. NEWNOWNEXT: LIT creative director Carlo D’Amore says he’s drawn to fringe characters for his avant theatrical “experiences”: “The 80s drag ball scene in New York was iconic and yet represented only a marginal community, to which Venus belonged,” he explains. ”I was so compelled by her tragic story, the pathos of her unfulfilled dreams, and justice never being served. I wanted to give her a voice and let audiences come away with a better understanding of those living on the fringes then and now.” The Murder of Venus Xtravaganza runs at New York’s Hartley House, September 20 to November 15. Wait! You mean we could actually raise money by getting huge corporations which we all use daily to pay their fair share in taxes AND that additional revenue could be used to create jobs? I dunno...maybe just crazy enough to work! Nice to see a democrat acting like one, but I guess when you represent a state whose capitol is bankrupt, you get creative? Or fair, as I like to call it. PETITION READS: Big multinational corporations like Apple and Microsoft are dodging their taxes by shifting jobs, profits and operations overseas.

Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI) has a plan to close these corporate tax loopholes and raise $220 billion in revenue over 10 years – money that we can invest in jobs, schools and ending cuts to vital services like Food Stamps and Head Start.1 Will you help us hit our goal of 35,000 citizen cosponsors for the Stop Tax Haven Abuse Act? Together we can stop the cuts that are devastating working families and communities across the country by making huge corporations pay their fair share of taxes and ending special tax loopholes that subsidize shipping American jobs overseas. With the country reeling from sequestration cuts, we need to raise revenue to invest in prosperity for all. Click here to add your name as a citizen cosponsor. American small businesses that pay their fair share are the ones subsidizing large corporations that dodge taxes and ship jobs overseas. If we care about seeing "Made in the USA" again, we need to level the playing field by fixing the rigged system that only benefits huge global corporations with their armies of accountants and lawyers.

In order to invest in an economy that works for all, we have to make big corporations play by the same rules as the rest of us. Add your name to the Stop Tax Haven Abuse Act so we can invest in well-paying American jobs right here at home. SIGN: USACTION.ORG

Last Saturday, Renisha McBride got stranded after a car accident in a suburban neighborhood in Detroit. Her cellphone battery was dead, so she went to the nearest house and knocked on the door, planning to ask for help. Instead, unprovoked, the owner of the house fatally shot her in the head.
It should have lead to an arrest. But here's the thing: Michigan is one of the 30 states that has a "Stand Your Ground" Law. Like in the case of George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin in Florida, gun-owners in Michigan are allowed to "shoot first" if they feel someone poses a threat. In this case, Renisha's killer is claiming he shot her in the face by accident because he thought she could be a burglar. He has not been arrested. No one should have to fear being shot when asking for help. Can you sign the petition demanding a full investigation into the shooting of Renisha McBride? Tell Detroit Police Chief James Craig & Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy: "No one should be killed for the simple act of asking for help. We demand a full investigation into Renisha McBride's death and for the perpetrator to be brought to justice." SIGN: WEARULTRAVIOLET.ORG
