SO IMPORTANT!

A Grand Bargain is in the air again, and it smells familiar after all these years of fighting it off. Here's our new message to House members and senators: If you agree to any cuts in Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid benefits, we will begin looking for your replacement. Click here to email that message to your representative and senators right now. The Grand Bargain, like the grand shutdown, is grand larceny. The "essential" military and NSA and CIA are up and running, while "inessential" programs of social uplift are closed, likely costing us $12 million per hour in pure waste.[1] President Eisenhower once said with great truth: "Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed." For up-to-the-second calculators of what our government is spending on guns, warships, and rockets even during the shutdown, click here. We don't have to allow a "grand bargain." We've stopped it repeatedly, under various names, in recent years. We need to stop it for good. One way to do that would be to switch to offense. Don't just re-open a broken government. Offer people more reasons to want the government open. Invest in education, green energy, an expansion of Social Security, and a real single-payer healthcare solution, while cutting the military and corporate welfare. Click here to tell Congress we won't stand for cuts to critical programs or for the ongoing failure to advance an alternative agenda. Please forward this email widely to like-minded friends.
