OPRAH VS HERMES

Another hilarous article from Bachem Macuno, who also wrote the hysterical I FUCKED ANN COULTER IN THE ASS, HARD. As you probably know, Oprah was recently refused entry into an Hermes store in Paris and is interpreting it as racially motivated, even though the store was closed. Now I love Oprah, and I know that celebs often arrange special shopping sprees where stores are shut down/kept open for them so they can spend a fortune unimpeded by autograph hounds and the like, but if a store is closed and you haven't made those special arrangements, too bad. I don't know all of the details, but one Hermes employee explained the incident by saying that there had been trouble with North African shoppers. Oprah certainly doesn't look North African, so who knows what this is about. Hermes quickly refuted this employee's potentially racist claim, but Oprah has vowed to let Hermes have it on her new fall season.

Oprah Battles High-End French Boutique Racism
And the Tyranny of Regular Store Hours: One Woman's Story of a Haute Couture Quasi-Lynching

Friday, June 24, 2005

The furor surrounding the refusal to admit Oprah Winfrey and her longtime companion to Hermes in Paris after store hours has escalated to the next level. "Oh, it’s on," her spokesperson was quoted as saying. "What is ‘Hermes’ French for? ‘Ku Klux Klan’?"

Hermes, which is actually French for ‘Really, Really Rich People Only,’ turned the Winfrey party away when she tried to gain entry after the close of its business day. "There should be regular people store hours, and they should enforce those as strictly as they like, but there should be anytime hours for people like Oprah and her friends. All we want is fairness."

"It’s like a metaphor for race relations in the world today. There are the people inside the impossibly high-end luxury stores, and the massively powerful Black media moguls locked outside. Oprah is striking a blow here for all the other billionaire Black women without a voice in today’s society," said Gayle King, Oprah’s best pal, travelling companion, and most intimate confidante.

I think this is the best marketing Hermes can ever wish for. It realy wont hurt thier buisness at all becuase hermes doesnt cater for middle class america that watches the Oprah show. And Oprah putiing out a garage sale to sell all her Hermes products proves nothing more than how much of a child she is, just like when she threw an all chicken BBQ to oppose the beef industry that realy didnt stop americans from eating beef either, heck im having a beef jerky right now hmmm hmm , i know her fat ass is eating steaks behind close doors. She did nt get that ft fro eating carrosts all her life !! And im sick and tired of how people use the race card, as a black person myself i find it tempting to do so but never put myself that low, instead I blame my actions that might have prompted people to act in such manner towards me, So Oprah stop being such a cry baby, if you would have scheduled an appointment im sure hermes would have honored ur request, and u cant blame an hermes employee just as much i dont blame Mc donald's if an employee messes up my order. Trust me u r nothing to the French people, you are not as popular there as u r here, so chill. And go on do your thing by expoliting people's mysery on tv and repeaing the benefits of making good deeds, while u get tax breaks, u r no different that Jerry Springer at least he's more honest about it

Sources deep-inside the industry have reported that Oprah, now Oprah X, plans to record Lisa Kudrow's rap "The Power's in the Purse" with a fabulous remix from Missy Elliot featuring Ms. Guy Ritchie.

Ms. Kudrow's cinematic masterpiece of bitter racial hatred in America, illustrates the plight of one self-centered/fashion-depraved/over-indulged idiot in her struggle with "da man and shit". Oprah plans to get a "leg up" on the original by re-releasing it as a special "director's cut" DVD with a bonus "kiss and tell" between Ms. X and gal-pal Gayle King as filmed by Paris Hilton.

Sets entitled "The Maxi Pad" we hear have been styled by Nate Burkus. Ms. King insists, "This one's gonna really get some tongues waggin'!"

Oprah insists that she will not earn one dollar from the DVD sales. She will instead, use the money to by Hermes stores around the world... after deducting expenses of course. Ms. X adds, "I don't want to LIVE there! Nate and I plan to convert them to homes for refugee, tsunami-victim children from all those countries with a history of Franco-opression. It'll be featured in special issue of "O AT HOME" entitled "Nate-O O-vercomes O-pression!"!"

Can "Oscar" expect a "jaw-dropping" performance from the "X-Kings" duo this year of their second track "Just Makin' Whoopie" off their CD "The Big O"?? Can "Live Ate: The broad-cast" on XO radio be far off??

We'll be waiting with baited, or do I mean fishy, breath!!

The previous messages posted are clearly from people who aren't famous nor in a position of power. Nor am I rich but it's a mindset. Like one of the earlier postings stated, middle America can't afford to shop there and that's exactly the point. Hermes is not catering to people like us who are blogging on the internet. They are catering to the top 1% of earners in the world where there are double edged expecations. They know the rich & famous can shop there and when they do Hermes knows and expects them to spend lots of money. Oprah can exact revenge because her friends and acquaintances are rich & powerful people who shop in places like this. Where a (Grace) Kelly purse can upwards of $10 000 U$ and there's a waiting list. So the store was closed! Another luxury that regular folk like us cannot appreciate. When people are staring asking for your autograph,,,how about some privacy while I try on clothes. The race issue is what is it. One of previous postees has identifed himself as black. If you reduce race as never being an issue then you are not living in the real world. If not you are a person of colour and you reduce it to just whining...well then you are one millions who are used to ignoring the real problems of today and you are probably American and just plain IGNORANT

Tell me why you people believe because she's rich she can't be discriminated against. Why is the idea of racism against a rich black woman not considered REAL racism. She's rich so she should be happy and not complain? It's all relative... a white person with "old money" worth 7 billion dollars, who can trace their ancestors to the Mayflower can be prejudice against a black woman that "only" makes 4 billion and made her money from TV. As far as they're concerned she's still inferior. And most wealthy people in the lime light shop after hours! So don't slamm Oprah, she didn't request anything that her contemporaries, people in her same bracket, haven't requested and been granted. Why would Oprah say they said they've had a problem with North Africans if she were making up a story? Why not just Blacks or South Africans or Americans or just Africans? North African is too specific to make up. Don't you think Oprah knows she doesn't look like North African(Think Egypt) Come on people use your head!

I do consider racism against a rich black woman real racism and I am not rich enough to even shop at Hermes for a kercheif, much less request special shopping hours there, or know the etiquette surrounding this type of operation. But whoever (if anyone) uttered it, the North African reference would make more sense than you think as there is a huge North African population from Morocco and Algiers in Paris. But you are right that Oprah does not look North African and a Parisian would probably recognize that. --B

I wish wealty African American entertainers i.e. Oprah, P.Diddy, JayZ, Mike Tyson would STOP spending their dollars at european, white businesses. When I saw the picture of Oprah standing in front of Hermes, it was the first time I thought she looked ridiculous. All of the money that is spent/wasted making these retailers, such as the Hermes family, richer, would be better spent establishing an American luxury brand owned by African Americans or better yet, how about starting a school, or paying for some more kids to go to college. If I had $20,000 to blow on a Hermes bag, I'd burn the money before giving it to these snobs who don't put anything back into America, let alone our communities. WAKE UP!

I saw Oprah on her show and she betrayed herself in less than 30 seconds. She said it herself - the store was in the process of being closed. Has anyone worked retail? You don't let anymore people in and quietly try and usher everyone else out. Give me a bloody break. Yes, there are racial issues, but I don't think this was one of them. She was just humiliated because she was treated like a normal person. The nerve!!!!

I can guarantee the majority of people that are leaving these comments stating, "Oprah, give it a break" are obviously not black. It's typical for Whites to try to "Ignore" racism even though it is an everyday issue for Blacks of "every" class.
I do believe they kept her out because she was Black, because someone of her status would easily spend a lot of money in their store. How about this thought,..If it was Britney friken Spears, or Tom Cruise standing outside that store 2 minutes after closing time, would they have been turned away? That answer is simple, "No". It was the color of her skin that made her entry as a celebrity unattainable at that hour. Any other "White" celebrity would have gained entry.

And I do agree with the previous post regarding her spending her money at these exclusive "white" European businesses. She does spend her money on various charities and does a lot for communities, but I wish she wouldn't spend her money on obvious racially sided companies. You would never catch Hermes with a black model, no matter how beautiful she was. So , why give your money to the same people that would probably rather hang you from the nearest tree?

3:07 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Point of the matter is...the store was closed. No matter how rich or what her color, the employee was right to refuse entry.

Why does Oprah think she is better than the rest of us? She is promoting class discrimination. Is one type of discrimination worse than another? Was Oprah the person populating the lifeboats when the Titanic went down? Nah, couldn’t have been, a few rich people went down with the ship. If she had been there all the rich and privileged would have made it. I'm being facetious but, really she is yelling discrmination because she wasn't granted a privilage that she thought her wealth and status in society dictated.

Hmmm...I bet when O dies she will go to heaven.O ain't dead yet and this ain't heaven.Things like this happen here on earth, and what's important is that o remembers her angel wings wont always help her fly accross the real life in which ,we normal people live EVERY DAYYY!

You know what.... what ever the reason for her denied entry into the store...she is not a regular person, so she shouldn't be treated like one...She has earned that certain level of respect and favor. But, no matter how wealthy you are, people will remind you that you are black. That should be a wake up call for blacks who think that they have arrived. They will let it be known,*baby you are still black don't for get*.The fact is... We don't know what was in the mind of the person who denied Oprah entry...or we would be mind readers. But, no matter if they were North African or South, the color of skin that the employee saw, made the decision for entry or none entry.that in and of its self is racial. No, the employee didn't have to open the door after hours..but the employee could have. Now what was it that made her/him choose not to? It wasn't because she/he was tired and ready to go home.. nor was it because they were closed(they open doors to celebs all the time). There was a reason that she/he said no. If the employee didn't know that it was Oprah or If the employee didn't want to be bothered with the North African, the motive was still based upon(not the store being closed),but the fact that she/he didnt feel like dealing with the woman at the door, (Be it Oprah or North African woman). The motive for refusal was generated by the color of skin the employee saw. That is descrimination... and that is wrong.

Nobody in France knows who the hell Oprah is. That was the problem. She freaked out because her huge bloated ego could not accept the fact that she is simply not recognized by regular folk in Paris. I am an American living in Paris. Believe me. Nobody knows her, nobody would recognize her, and that was what made her feel "humilliated"... this is an a case of hurt ego, not race.

Oh, and North Africans are not black.

1. I shop at Hermes and I’m a Blogger. www.Fransexual.Blogspot.com

2. Some argue, ‘Ah but what if it were a white celeb?’ Well, maybe said celeb might have said, ‘Darn it, oh OK, I’ll come back tomorrow, bye now,’ like we all have to do sometimes.

3. Here in Europe, much to our irritation, ‘The customer is NOT King as it is in the USA,’ if it’s end of business they are going right home. Hermes will get by just fine without yet another rich customer; they have done thus far.

4. It’s easy to spend a good hour mooching around a Hermes store, so that’s going to be ehhh…8pm until they close!

5. God forbid it should have ever gone to court…

Plaintiff. Your Honour, I wanted to buy a new handbag, I’ve only got 500, the store was shut and they wouldn’t let me in, can you believe it!

Defence. Ehhh…yes your Honour it’s true, the store had closed 15 minutes earlier, it says the times right on the door.

Case dismissed. Now stop wasting my time woman, go back tomorrow when it’s open and get out of my courthouse, it’s closed for the day!

Oprah - give me a break! Isn't it interesting that she uses the racial card when she doesn't get her way as a negative, but when hanging with Borac Hussein it's a positive. Put a fork in me 'cause I'm so done with Oprah! I want nothing to do with her or any product she is involved with! In fact, I'm thinking Hermes was soo smart for not letting her in!!
