As someone who enjoyed sex from an age earlier than the page ex-Senator Mark Foley resigned over, I'm not that outraged by a few horny emails to a 16 year old. What's enfuriating is the response and cover-up. On the whole, it's an easily won victory for democrats since it disgraces the republicans. Not only because of Foley's behavior, but because of Hastert's excuse for not acting on the information when he received it a year ago. Hastert's office issued this statement: Hastert "declined to contest publicly what Reynolds had said earlier, but his office did say that the Speaker could not 'explicitly recall' any such conversation between the two men." In other words, he doesn't "dispute" what he was told, but a pedophiliac representative from his own party didn't strike him as scandalous enough to act on. So maybe he just spaced the report out. Maybe he wanted to keep it quiet, but let's see, what else was happening around one year ago? There are plenty of other scandals which the republicans could have been scrambling to hush up or spin at that time. Delay, Abramoff, Plame, torture, domestic spying--take your pick. Ironically, Foley was "head" of a committe on childrens' issues. i can only imagine the issues on his mind. Like, "Why doesn't anything come out of a 10 year old's cock when they orgasm?" His tendencies were so well known that pages were warned about him by there supervisor in a page training class in 2001!

Pedophilia outrages almost everyone, particularly religious right-wingers who form the backbone of republican voters. When are these little old gray-haired ladies going to acknowledge the widespread, very un-christian corruption within their sworn political party, with whom they're alligned so closely that preachers in the last presidential election testified that a vote for John Kerry was a vote for the devil? Again and again, as someone wrote into CNN, the GOP sends the message "Do as we say, not as we do." Do you really think that ads urging Bush to help stop the murder in Darfur are going to help? You're appealing to a killer's non-existent conscience to stop killing in a country which has no oil? Puhlease! Recognize the republican beast for what it is. Will this flap over the page still "resonate"--ie pentrate and remain in their backward skulls--with conservative, bible-thumping voters in November?

In his rotten statement, Foley asked for his supporters to remember him in their prayers. Honey, they're cursing your ass, not praying for you! But in a really sick pr move, he checks into rehab for alcoholism. Whether he's a drunk or not, this somehow softens the pedophilia charges. You see, he's just a man of god who seeks our prayers and forgiveness, and it was alcoholism which led him to backslide. There's a boozer in almost every family, so THAT sickness is a little more tolerable and a little less sick than plain ol' sober pedophilia. Poor thing. Maybe once Foley's cured of alcoholism, he can pursue a career within the catholic church.

It's lucky for the dems. Unable to compete with the $90,000,00 republican advertising (of which 90% is negative) budget for the congressional race, the democrats' opponents have conveniently smeared themselves. But CNN mentioned that dems were scrambling to "get in front of" the scandal and use it to their advantage. Scrambling? Hey, take advantage of it by all means, but shouldn't democrats have a bit more of a plan than wait until a month until the election and pray for some fucking pedophilia accusations to unravel? C'mon! We don't even know that Foley had sex with any underage boy. Aren't there other more crucial issues which dems could "get in front of" and should already have been spouting off about with some of Bill Clinton's recent offensive tone long before now? An unpopular, bloody and expensive war, the screwed-up Katrina response, failing economy, health care and educational systems--take your goddam pick from those and many republican failures. Don't they all individually trump a few inappropriate emails and condemn republicans as a bunch of ineffectual crooks? Doesn't the scope of any one of them outweigh a few "overly friendly" emails? Grabbing at this sex scandal so desperately proves that we DON'T have much of a plan. I realize that TV news interviews far more right-wingers than lefties, so that whatever our plan is it isn't aired nearly as often as theirs. But whatever the reason, dems must somehow get ther plan together, get it heard and understood by voters! Otherwise, we're guilty of the lack-of-plan-coasting-on-the-republicans-failures campaign which republicans have rightly accused us of for years.

It was a shock to hear Barack Obama recently detail a comprehensive plan to coax car manufacturers towards partial use of ethanol, which would begin to remedy our "addiction to oil" which Bush himself, no stranger to addictions, diagnosed the nation with ages ago. I haven't heard many plans besides Obama's to cure us. Democrats, you've got a month. Are you gonna coast on the shock of a disgraced pedophile or inspire us with some plans as rational and necessary as Obama's? Ok, so I also happen to relish the idea of one day having a president sexy enough to masturbate to.

The thing about pedifiles that pisses me off is that they have such delusions of hot-ness. Like a teenage boy of girl would find these middle age, paunchy, balding fucks sexy and they would even have a chance! I get that teenage boys are horny and you could probably talk them into stuff but really it's pretty arrogant. Does that make sense?

Well, if the older person were offering money or a chance for advancement, a kid might overlook physical imperfections. (I'm selfishly hoping.) But from these emails, this kid doesn't even seem interested in Foley at all! --B

He technically is not a pedophile. This is the real def - of people attracted to post - pubescent under-agers...there is a different - however wrong...just not as sick.

What a sad sack of shit he is. He may not be a pedophile, strictly speaking, but he is a complete ass. What kind of a moron in public office writes that kind of nonsense to a teenager? What, he can't find someone over 18 to talk about jerking off with? Next, he'll come out as a "gay American." Then he can be the poster boy for the Log Cabin Club and the Advocate will feature him on the cover.

I totally agree with the - why not someone over 18...but I was hit on when I was 16/17 working at a grocery store by older gay men - no t 50 + - but I never felt violated - just flattered at that age! Still - POOR judgement.
And - it takes time to bring down a person of power, and the emails were not THAT bad - the IMs were...so let's stop hanging people - and just get to the bottom of it. Then we can hang Foley.

Recently, Bay Buchanan, mentioned on CNN that the Republican party should have been ashamed that a "52 year old man, a well known homosexual, would have been allowed to be near young page boys..."

She made it sound as though all homosexuals are pedophiles. She needs to be smacked into reality.

I hope the Democratics can revitalize a country that's in dire need of change. Great post!

Not all pedophiles are dirty old men

some of them are even women

some of them are men in thier 30's
even Christopher Reeve played one in one of the trashiest made for tv movies i ever saw

cant recall its title but it was unintentionaly funny

You hit the nail on the head. The fact that Foley was interested in boys as opposed to girls only reaffirms the false notions by many on the far-right that pedophilia (and an interest in post-pubescent but still underaged boys -- for the word splitters here) and homosexuality (doesn't it sound so clinical) are the same. They are not! The Catholic Church tried to blame their pedophilia problem on gay priests (ironic, since they were fucking each other and people of appropriate age) and now ultimately this Foley scandal will hurt the GLBT community too. (The pejorative term for gay in France is PD -- short for pedarast or pedophile. Sadly it's not a new label and seems to be gaining favor again with conservatives. Oh how we long for the days when they just called us faggots!)

Lady -- you ROCK! If Foley-gate is all the Dems have to win, we are in trouble. It reminds me of the leftist Weimar Republic and their tactics to beat the Nazi party in Germany. While the Weimar regime supported gay rights -- it was the most open society in all of Europe at the time -- they tried to smear Hitler by saying he was surrounded by gay consultants.

The GOP is hanging itself now -- so step back and use the time to prepare for an issues-based offensive as soon as Foley-gate dies down. Andrew Cuomo gets it -- let Pirro deconstruct herself, but focus all your rhetoric on the issues. And as you said Bun Bun, it's not like we don't have any issues to push ...

I'm glad someone mentioned the Catholic Church scandal, since that has a much clearer connection to this Foley disgrace than the McGreevey mess. Foley and the vast majority of the priests were closet cases hiding in the closet and chasing after young men who were in many cases were almost legal, not little prepubescent boys but teens with some level of sexual awareness and agency. They took advantage of their power and their influence while hiding in the closet, all the while attached to institutions that continue to demonize gays. Were they victims or part of the problem, I'm not sure. Either way, what they did was clearly abusive and certainly illegal. Sure, I remember being flattered and even aroused at age 16 when older men were interested in me. I even took a few up on their offers. It's not like I was finding peers who would allow me to explore my sexuality. I was curious and naive and horny. Were the older men taking advantage of me or helping me out... sometimes I'm not sure. But those of us who are out gay men need to think twice and three times about flirting with boys 2 men who are that young. Just because our straight peers do it with a wink and a nod doesn't make it ok. Is there a double standard in this country when it comes to sexuality and sexual activity among young people and/or the gays? Sure there is. But abuses by people in positions of authority make it worse.

That the Democrats or anyone else is politicizing this is a scandal of its own enormous proportions. It points to a lapse in judgment, a complete willingness to be as dirty and base as the other side, and worst of all, to a lack of real ideas that will make a difference in the lives of real people. As long as Democratic Party is willing to play along and even sell tickets to these stomach-turning sideshows, the longer we're all going to be screwed.

Another aspect of this disgrace is that Fox network and the major Florida papers held back reporting this, one would assume because Fox is a right-wing mouth whore and the papers were afraid of outing a known gay politician. Anyway, he's an alcoholic now, so all will be forgiven.

To the last poster ...

How exactly is the Democratic party selling tickets to this scandal. Fellow Republicans are lashing out at Foley and some now even at Hastert. Most Dems are keeping a lower profile -- and in some cases focusing on the issues. Point in case -- the Dems took task with the lead Senator's comments on inviting the Taliban into the Afghan govt! and Condi Rice for National Security. Perhaps you should watch the news before shooting off your blogging mouth. And that means more than just watching Fox!

Sorry, I don't watch Fox News, but the Associated Press is running 2 stories on the Foley scandal that start out like this:

1. WASHINGTON - Democratic candidates seized on a disgraced congressman's explicit messages with underage boys — and House Republican leaders' handling of the situation — to argue that voters should toss the GOP from power.

2. WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -Disgraced former Rep. Mark Foley said through his lawyer Tuesday that he was sexually abused by a clergyman as a teenager, but accepts full responsibility for sending salacious computer messages to teenage male pages.

Attorney David Roth said Foley was molested between ages 13 and 15. He declined to identify the clergyman or the church, but Foley is Roman Catholic.

He also acknowledged for the first time that the former congressman is gay, saying the disclosure was part of his client's "recovery."

"Mark Foley wants you to know he is a gay man," Roth told reporters as Republicans struggled with fallout from Foley's resignation.

OK -- I saw that same story and scratched my head, since aside from that mention, there is virtually no evidence that Dems are capitalizing on this. Yes, some Dems have been asked their opinions by political pundits, but we are not seeing Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton and the sexy (and masturbate worthy) Obama out giving press conferences. Meanwhile, Reps involved with the page program continue to disclude the only Dem rep from any discussion.

To accuse the Dems of dirty politics is the same machavellian policy of the Bush administration and Reps. It smacks of "I'm rubber and you are glue, everything bounces off me and sticks to you." I'm just shocked that it works on so many people.

This is a Republican scandal folks -- they are the ones in disgrace now. I agree with the Divine Lady Bunny that this scandal alone is not what Dems should count on to win in November. I think most Americans are waiting for an October surprise from Carl Rove -- probably another fantastically foiled terrorist plot to 'show' that the Reps are tough on terror.

Meanwhile, a little credit to those Dems who are not selling front row tickets and are instead taking Senator Frist to task on his Taliban flip flop.

One last thing -- at some point it is appropriate for Dems to question how this happened and question if there was a Republican cover up. Your Rovian assertation that Dems are selling front-row tickets set up a perception that any discord from Dems at all on the topic is bad. All citizens from both parties have a right to be disgusted by this abuse of power and question if a major political party -- especially the party that supposedly takes the moral high ground -- tried to cover this up in an effort to keep a Republican seat.

Lastly -- my apologies for assuming that you watched Fox News. Sadly you got this stupid, conpiratorial anti-Dem message from the AP. Has the media completely shifted to the right??

Well, Bunny has a point, but a grown man sleeping with young boys is a national disgrace and should not be treated lightly no matter how much one enjoyed sex at an early age. Heck this country is loaded full of sexually active kids with babies, STDs and AIDS with no clue as to how sex made all that happen to them.

Foley is a homosexual hypocritical pig who championed to protect children while having internet sex with them behind closed doors and for all we know, since he has been working with pages for years, may have even had physical intercourse with them. The fact that the White House and House Speaker turned a blind eye might be because they too are engaged in such acts. You want to grab hold of something meaty Bunny, let's call for an investigation of all of those sitting in the White House and see how many 'dicks' there really are out there molesting children.

Heck it may go as high as the highest. Maybe Cheyney's daughter is a lesbian for a reason or Bush's daughters drink for a reason. This is not the first page scandal. Obviously, there wasnt much done the first time and after the press died down these pedophiles went back to business as usual. Let us demand a royal flushing and see how many try to cover their butts both literally and figuratively.

As far as the Dems are concerned, they are just the other wing on the same bird. The only ones getting hoodwinked are the American people. Time to bring in a third party folks, aren't we about sick to death with the same ole' two parties that do absolutely nothing but talk and make false promises.

We have become a nation of doubters due to these two parties. So, lets start putting in real candidates, people from among the people. Not dummies but certainly people with some heart who are not so rich they have lost touch with the people and their own hearts and conscious.

You would think with the environment so precarious and the weather patterns changing throughout this country and world and with the glaciers melting so fast that even scientist Steven Hawkins said GET TO MARS QUICK!!! Hawkins claims the earth has about 30 years left so devastated is the earth. And if you folks dont think so - GO SEE the movie "AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH."

One has to wonder that with all the info that the White House has about the environment -- why the heck are they trying to undermind it and mine in Alaska where the last tundras are. We are getting all these weather problems because the oceans are too hot and the tundras are melting.

Who in their right mind would be setting off bombs when already their are tears in the ozone layers the size of continents. So you really think that those bombs and nuclear weapons arent having a deadly effect on the planet? Do you really?

And what SANE PEOPLE build weapons of mass destruction bent on tearing the heads and arms off of children and maiming people beyond recognition. Is this America? Is this what we have become?

Ask yourselves this question - what are we doing in Iraq when it was the Saudis that were purported to hit the World Trade Building. Ask yourselves this too, why when the WTC was made up of seven buildings and two planes hit one building, all seven fell and fell in a dust cloud like powder. How is that possible. And why was the WTC site cleaned up before a thorough investigation. Also, ask this question. An entire hour went by between when NY was struck and Washington, DC. THe Pentegon is our military might, how in the heck could a plane be allowed into that airspace and nothing done if orders were not given to stand down. ASK YOURSELVES HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE, especially when enough evidence was given to prove Bush and his horde of vipers were warned that a strike would come, so dont you think that once NY hit, having already known that info, they wouldnt have prepared to protect Washington, DC? Something is amiss folks. And, ask yourself this - Why did Bush initially fight an investigation until he was forced to appoint a commission. One who now says they were NOT given all the facts - Something stinks to high heaven dont you think?

One wonders why we are setting off bombs in Iraq or anywhere else in the world, KNOWING the precarious condition of the earth. If we dont put a stop to that soon, it wont matter about the drunk in the white house, the oft times rumored VP pedophile that would be president, or the rest of the vipers crawling around in this highly criminal administration with its vanguard press sitting silently by spreading their spoon fed propaganda while allowing all the criminal activity and usurping of the constitution to go, that is bringing about a police state in America. None of that will matter when these tidal waves wipe out Japan, New York, Indonesia, California and every coastal area on this planet.

Religion wont be an issue then. Oil wont be an issue then. The only issue we will have is how fast can you climb up the highest mountain.

Well, Berlin is also one of the world's capital's of kink, and lordy! was I ever plunked down in the middle of it as a featured performer at Hustlaball, a sort of fairground for male prostitutes catering to every imaginable taste--or lack thereof! My "comedy" was largely lost in translation on a semi-english speaking crowd. I had thought that a "clever" sight gag like pulling a brown-tipped banana out of my ass to the tune of Gwen Stefani's HOLLABACK GIRL and then sniffing and pointing to the banana as if verifying "Mmmm Mmmm, that's my shit, that's my shit" would appeal to non-english speakers, scat enthusiasts and anyone wanting to lampoon that dreadful tune. I guess I'm just too kinky for Berlin!

But then I got to introduce porn star Jeff Stryker, who was filming for a reality show. Hey, he's a lot better looking than Ron Jeremy ever was and just as hung so why not? He and I shared a dressing room and he could not have been sweeter, although one of his eyes was swollen and bothering him quite a bit. "Don't worry" I reasured him, "ain't nobody gone be lookin' at your eye, Jeff!" This gave rise to all sorts of sad "sight for sore eyes", "Jeff, are you winking at me?", etc type of tomfoolery. He was supposed to have his "anatomically correct action figure" doll, but hadn't brought one so we couldn't do our skit in which I asked him about the doll, he asked me a la one of his pornformances "Yeah, you wanna see that big doll?" and then pulled the doll out at his crotch level while I deepthroated it. So poor, poor me had to fake it with his legendary 9 inch cock! Jeff's still sexy, but I didn't manage to get any good pix with his face in it. Oh well, his biggest asset is still in plain view
