I WONDER...

It's fascinating to me that two major NYC drag queens are doing salutes to Joan Crawford this holiday season. Lypsinka Von Rasputina is doing an homage to one of Joan's later interviews in Passion Of The Crawfords and Joey Arias Nyc will play the demented Hollywood diva in Christmas With The Crawfords--along with Chris March as Christina, Sherry Vine and Flotilla Debarge. Though Joan died in 1977, her daughter's tell-all gave the already outrageous actress a new life when Faye Dunaway delivered an incredible impersonation of Joan as monster-mom. Drag queens have made quotes from Mommie Dearest a staple of campy performances for decades. But tell me--which divas are going to take Joan's place? How are queens going to draw on dullards like Jennifer Aniston and no-talents like Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian? Plenty of queens had had success with stage versions of Golden Girls, which some say was the last triumph of great comic TV writing. I don't watch a lot of TV or see that many movies. Assuming that you do, who among today's stars do you think will live on after four decades as fodder for outrageous drag shows? Honey Boo Boo? Nene Leakes?
