Saw Varla Jean Merman's Twice On A Mattress in Provincetown last night. She's one of the most original queens in the biz--very fresh and funny with a completely new show every year. Insane costumes, demented patter and everything from props to puppets to wacky extras and wig changes kept thing moving along as Varla raced through rewritten Disney classics accompanied by a piano to a packed house. She'll be in NYC this fall in a greatest hits show at Below 54 and will star in Ryan Landry's Mildred Fierce this October at Theatre 80 St. Marks. Do not miss! One of my favorite videos:
