R.I.P LOLEATTA HOLLOWAY

In the world of disco, perhaps Loleatta Holloway was the Janis Joplin. She was one of those phenomenal voices who never got the major push because she wasn't a beauty. But since I don't see music--I hear it--I'd much rather hear a dynamic vocalist than some sexy young twit like Britney who can't sing a note. Outside the dance community, Loleatta never got the respect she deserved.

She got a mention in the NY Post--apparently she died of heart failure.

HERE ARE A FEW OF HER VIDEOS. THERE AREN'T A LOT OF LIVE PERFORMANCES, BUT THAT SOUL-STIRRiNG VOICE IS EVIDENT.
