DON'T LEAVE THIS ONE TO LADY GAGA
BUJU BANTON HAS BEEN NOMINATED FOR A GRAMMY AWARD. THE JAMAICAN ARTIST HAS HD CONCERTS CANCELLED INTERNATIONALLY BECAUSE HIS ANTI-GAY LYRICS GO WAY BEYOND SLURS. HE ACTUALLY USES HIS LYRICS TO ADVOCATE THAT GAYS BE SHOT OR HAVE ACID THROWN IN THEIR FACE. THOUGH JAMAICAN TOURIST ADS ARE FILLED WITH SUNSHINE AND BEACHES, DON'T VISIT THE ISLAND PARADISE IF YOU ARE HOMOSEXUAL. WE ARE HATED THERE.
MY ATTITUDE IS THAT YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU WANT IN YOUR OWN COUNTRY BUT DON'T COME UP IN MY FACE IN MY LAND AND SPOUT OFF HATE-FILLED GIBBERISH BECAUS E YOU ARE SO BACKWARD. IF A POPULAR ARTIST JOINED JOINED THE KKK AND WROTE SONGS ABOUT KILLING BLACKS WOULD HE BE HONORED IN THE US? OR IN JAMAICA? ORDINARILY, I BELIEVE IN COMPLETE FREEDOM OF SPEECH. BUT SINGING ABOUT KILLING GAYS IS A TOUCHY TERRITORY, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU CONSIDER THAT GAY-BASHINGS WERE UP IN 2008. MAYBE WE CAN'T GET MARRIED, BUT I THNK MOST WOULD BELIEVE THAT WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO LIVE!

Grammy nominations were announced last week, and among them you'll find your regular cast of musical superstars. There's Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Madonna, Kings of Leon, the Black Eyed Peas, and even Daryl Hall and John Oates (for those craving a 1970s-80s flashback). You can also add to that list a musician who has openly called for gay people to be burned alive, after having acid thrown in their face.
That's right, Buju Banton has been included among the 2010 Grammy nominees, with a chance to win an award for Best Reggae Album. When Banton isn't busy being nominated for Grammy awards, he's out there penning songs like "Boom Boom Bye," where he lovingly sings a tune about how gay people should be shot in the face.
