MAE WEST AND TIMOTHY DALTON SING!

They duet on Captain and Tenille's LOVE WILL KEEP US TOGETHER from the movie SEXTETTE. I l've how they've changed the lyrics from

"Young and beautiful, someday your looks will be gone"

to

Young and beautiful (Timothy stifles a snicker), your looks will never be gone.

Mae is in her 70's in this 1978 bomb! Rumors have been confirmed with an english hairdresser on the shoot that indeed she was on some sort of high-heeled roller contraption to help the old gal get around There are also rumors that she wore a latex face mask from the eyes down, with holes for the nostrils and mouth! I don't know if that last one is true, but she does have that insane buckteeth look since she's been pulled so tight that her mouth won't really close and so her teeth are usually visible. What a glorious nutcase! Truly absurd!

She's not in her 70s here, she's in her late 80s!

Amazing and notice how her face isn't really in focus just a slight blurr, must be all the vaseline on the lens.

I'm still waiting for YouTube to post Ginger Roger's version from the Love Boat. It has the same amount of energy as Ms West's.

It's a riot. At one point Ginger is doing her geriatric version of a high kick. By doing this, her backup dancers help her lean back while she extends her leg forward. Priceless!

Isn't this the movie where there is that insane musical number called "YOU'VE GOT TO TASTE ALL THE FRUIT", where everyone runs around with giant strawberries and bananas in Calypso costumes? It was either this or the other stinker she did around that time.

I've been working on a manuscript entitled "In Search of Mae West" documenting many of the gay LA posse that surrounded Mae in her Ravenswood Apartment lair during the last fifteen years of her life. Through their stories and hilarious adventures with Mae it becomes evident that Mae West was a big time friend to gay men. Lesbians.... hmmmm, not so much.
