MISS DUVAL 2005 PAGEANT

Emcee'd by popular pageant host Sophia McIntosh, who I'd only heard about. She's a nut in her curch lady drag. And I love that Tina Turner's PROUD MARY has become a favorite for all generations. Whatever country-fried, chitlins circuit genius decided to put the young Tina and her girls in fringe dresses and long wigs which they them mop the floor on the horn stabs deserves some kind of award for creating such a lasting cultuaral impression.

I read in today's paper that Tina Turner is on the comeback trail, apparently she's returning to the studio and is going all disco, she plans to have an album out later this year, and about time too! this Tina Turner drought has gone on for far too long.

Tina's just way too vital and full of life to be inactive. I think we knew it was only a matter of time. She did do disco before, back in the late 70s when she first moved to Britain--as I recall, it was better than a lot of the stuff we were hearing here, but not as commercially viable. I can't wait for her to come back and teach some of these girls some new moves! :-)
