A mad moment with Dan Mathews of PETA. Here we are on the Spanish Steps in Rome--I'm guessing mid-90s. Earlier that day, we'd gone to the Vatican and they let us in with all the other tourists. Since my arms were covered and my dress was long, I met the dress code. But the officials caught on after tourists inside asked us to pose for pics and we had to skeedaddle. A man in a garbage truck jumped out in the courtyard to hump me briefly. I guess I was trying to recreate one of those greco-roman towering curly hairstyles. I'd say it turned out more like Mess-alina.
