WHAT DO AVOIDING MILITARY STRIKES IN SYRIA, STRICTER GUN CONTROL LAWS, LEGALIZING GAY MARRIAGE AND MARIJUANA AND HIGHER TAXES ON THE WEALTHY HAVE IN COMMON?
A majority of Americans support all of these measures. Yet we won't get them because our corrupt government ignores what voters want after they get our votes. 79% of Americans want Congress to review any plan military action in Syria. And 50% want to avoid going at all even prior to Congressional oversight. So if we the people don't want war, why are they banging the drums for it so loudly? Isn't the government of a democracy supposed to reflect the wishes of it's people?
Not any more! On a wide variety of core issues which touch on every aspect of our lives, we're seeing the government ignore voter's wishes and side only with those who pay them. So we get war with Syria--not because we truly care about or are threatened by the Syrian people--but because war profiteers like Halliburton make bank when we launch attacks. (And even these "surgical" attacks could backfire and lead to conflict with Russia, China, Israel, Iran and lord-knows-who-else involved.)
Despite a large majority of NRA members wanting stricter background checks, we can't get them passed even after the horrific Sandy Hook incident because the NRA and gun manufacturers pay our politicians so much.
After the recent Supreme Court ruling, most Americans want to legalize gay marriage for the first time ever. Same for legal weed. And? Obama's phony epiphany on gay marriage means nothing if he doesn't act on it and he's been a tougher prosecutor of drug crimes than Bush, despite his past personal use of the drug.
We voted Obama back into office partially because he said he'd tax those making about $250,000 per year. He won and then immediately raised this figure to $400,000 and up, preferring to hit the little people already hit hard by cutting their social services than tax those with powerful connections.
WE'VE REACHED A POINT WHERE NOTHING WE THE PEOPLE WANT MATTERS TO EITHER PARTY, SO IT'S TIME TO DITCH BOTH. YOU'LL NEVER GET WHAT YOU WANT FROM EITHER ONE. UNLESS YOU'RE RICH AND YOU PAY THEM.
