COLTON FORD: UNDER THE COVERS REMIXED

Porn star Colton Ford has a new dance album of cover tunes and there are some interesting choices from artists as diverse as Sade and Nirvana. He sings well and there's a curiously credible cover of Losing My Religion. I know that an electro-dance mix of R.E..M may seem like a dreadful idea, but few could imagine the re-worked rock classic Comfortably Numb becoming the international dance classic which launched the Scissor Sisters either. Sometimes, it's just kooky enough to work.

Producer Craig C puts a fun spin on Tiga's You're Gonna Want Me and other remixers include such notables as Matthias Heilbronn and Freddie Bastone. Colton fares less well with his re-do of Show Me Love (don't come for Robin S, honey!) and Colton's remake of Music Sounds Better With You makes little sense since that hit was based on a sample which is not included in the newer version. But it's nice to hear soulful vocals in dance music. And if you just want to ogle Colton's slammin' body, he has simultaneously launched a body-baring calendar.

Personally, I'm not a porn fan but I love Colton's self-penned duet with Monique Bingham which is an ode to smoking weed. Both of them sound great and you just don't expect a funky, rare groove classic from a gay porn star.
