Did you know that in many states, if you walk into a Starbucks, you could be standing next to someone carrying a loaded gun? It's true. Starbucks lets people to carry firearms into their stores if state laws allow them to do so.
Starbucks’ stance on guns in its stores is at odds with other company policies it has put in place to protect customers' health and safety. For example, Starbucks recently enacted a ban on smoking within 25 feet of its stores, in areas where smoking would be otherwise legal. Starbucks also bans firearms from its corporate offices and prohibits employees from carrying guns in the interest of “workplace health, safety and security” -- even in states where laws would allow them to do so. Starbucks has the right to change their policy on guns; in fact, most of Starbucks' competitors ban guns from their stores. As moms, we're demanding action from Starbucks now.
