HMMMMM...

Do you feel any threat from North Korea in your daily life? No, me either. So why did the US just move more fighter jets over to South Korea as if in anticipation of attacking the North? Because the North Korean missiles might hit us. Really? Hit us all the way in the US? No. They might hit US military bases in South Korea. Even though South Korea's defense head just said "There are no signs that the North is preparing for a full-scale conflict." So why do we even have military bases in South Korea--so that we can help provoke North Korea into attacking the South? Actually, that seems to be the case if you believe this: ABC NEWS: "North Korea has been railing against U.S.-South Korean military exercises that began in March and are to continue until the end of this month. The allies insist the exercises in South Korea are routine, but the North calls them rehearsals for an invasion and says it needs nuclear weapons to defend itself." Is North Korea's leader crazy? Could be. But the US's leaders are also crazy if we just left two wars we couldn't afford and we're thinking about starting another one. We want jobs, not more war! Sadly, war means jobs for many and those defense contractors have to get paid somehow. So I guess peace is out of the question even when we're sick of war and financially broken by it. Ten years after it began, most Americans polled recently claim that invading Iraq was a mistake. Shouldn't we try to avoid that same mistake again--at least until we aren't so pitiful back home that we're forced to cut police, fire dpts, tons of schools, benefits, etc. Am I oversimplifying this? I could very well be--I'm a drag queen and never studied foreign policy or Asia. I am completely ignorant of the history of the tensions in Korea. But I'm completely aware that countries which aren't doing so hot themselves might want to make more friends and less enemies. GUARDIAN: "The US has defended its robust response to military threats from North Korea amid criticism that both sides are to blame for the escalating rhetorical standoff." So we're basically trying to start some shit because we love to fight. Same shit, different continent. At least the pitiful case against Iraq was successfully, for idiots, tied to 9/11. 9/11 was devastating. But is there a new devastation that causing this saber-rattling towards North Korea? THERE IS NO THREAT TO THE US FROM NORTH KOREA ANY MORE THAN IRAQ HAD WMD OR YELLOWCAKE URANIUM. If there's a threat to US military bases in South Korea then maybe we should bring them on home. What's prompting the US to try and police the world again? If we were had so much moral authority and knew so damn much, we wouldn't have just exited an 8 year war which most of now feel we never should have started. Let's not be tricked again. We can't afford more war even if there was a good reason to attack! GUARDIAN
