I HAD A RUPAUL DAY TODAY!

I had a RuPaul day--we recorded a fun, silly duet that he'd written for an upcoming album. Then I saw his poster plastered on the subway. Quite a remarkable relationship I've had with this queen over 25 years. They say you make your closest friends in college and I met him when I attended GA State briefly. There was no courses in drag and I was young and ready to hit the club scene. So Ru became my drag mother and taught me so much about so many things. One was music. He turned me on to Kashif, Melba Moore, Evelyn Champagne King, Cameo, Quincy Jones, Diana Ross, Ashford and Simpson, Chaka Khan and so many other artists I still treasure today. He also dressed me up as Boy George, complete with extensions! I think I won $75 in a costume contest, 3rd place. And I'm returning to see my real mama in Atlanta tomorrow, where it all began. She's taking the bus down from Chattanooga, where she still lives in the same house I grew up in. We'll share a hotel room and are attending a party or two. She called today to ask if it was a dressy enough affair for her to bust out her beaded Todd Oldham that I gave her when Todd still designed clothes and gave this jacket to me as payment for "modeling" in one of his shows. Damn--old people like to dither on and reminisce!

I love seeing these new RPDR All-Stars ad on the subway. I don't watch the show regularly but All-Stars is more intriguing to me since I've worked with most of them on Drag U and will be egging some on. I guess I'm closest to glamorous nut
case Tammie Brown, seductress Jujubee and Pandora Boxx, who looks sexier than ever in this pic. I've also worked with Raven a lot and she's a fun character. Her look is bizarre in this pic but her make-up application is so flawless that she pulls it off. Ya gotta love Latrice, too. This is gonna be a fun season.
