New York Magazine contributing editor Lisa Miller’s recent article, “The Money-Empathy Gap,” details research that finds that the wealthier you are, the less humane you might be. In this “Viewpoint” Web exclusive, Miller gives one possible remedy. ”One of the things that makes people less ruthless and less selfish is giving money away,” she says, citing a Harvard Business School study.


I thought the part which was most interesting was about how in the 1920s, there was nothing wrong with acquiring wealth because the American dream of rising from rags to riches was possible to all. It was seen as a good thing. Until that dream slowly died and it's now obvious that the ruling class bribes pols to keep the rest of us down as they prosper.
