DITCH CITIZENS UNITED!

IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE WHO THINKS THAT THERE SHOULD BE MORE $ IN POLITICS? OUR LEADERS ARE ALREADY BOUGHT AND SOLD--THE CITIZENS UNITED RULING MAKES IT EASIER TO BUY AND SELL THEM. AND YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY THEM SO YOUR INTERESTS WILL NEVER BE REPRESENTED. I DON'T SEE HOW ANYONE FROM EITHER PARTY COOULD NOT SIGN THIS. YOU WANT UNLIMITED $ FROM ANONYMOUS, OVERSEAS DONORS DETERMINING THE POLICIES WHICH AFFECT YOUR LIVES? I DIDN'T THINK SO.

Today is the two-year anniversary of the infamous Citizens United Supreme Court ruling. That case gave corporations like Exxon or Bank of America approval to spend millions of dollars buying elections.

It is already happening, and it is wrong.

Changing Supreme Court decisions can take decades. A better alternative is to pass a constitutional amendment.

A new campaign called United for the People is underway to do just that. And, since we don’t have time to waste, this effort needs support from the
very highest levels. Today we're petitioning President Obama to support a constitutional amendment to boot big money out of elections.

Will you sign our petition to the president?

Support from President Obama would give a big, early boost to the movement for an amendment. The president has already condemned Citizens United as a bad ruling. If the president comes out in
support of the amendment, it will inspire millions of people to believe in the idea, and a lot of members of Congress will follow, too.

Amending the Constitution will require the support of 2/3 of both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, and then must be ratified by 3/4 of the states. That is a big hill to climb, but it isn’t impossible. State legislators will also follow the president’s leadership when he backs a constitutional amendment.

So let’s get started off right.
