I can't believe that everyone is making jokes about Sarah Palin and ignoring the serious geo-political and especially serious economic issues facing the US. Do voters realise that the bail-outs of banks and mortgage institutions on wall street (as a result of republican economic polices) is going to increase government exoenditures at a time when declining company profits are going to sharply cut tax revenues. The resulting deficit can only be funded by tax increases or increasing issuance of government debt. The former will be sharlply recessionary, while the latter may well result in a currency crisis as foreigners balk at the increased supply of bonds. Like the Iraq war, either action have global implication which will only be seen by American voters, very sadly, well after the election!
