NEW YORK (AP) -- Naomi Campbell pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault Tuesday for hitting her maid with a cell phone over a pair of missing jeans.
"I threw a cell phone in the apartment. The cell phone hit Ana," Campbell told Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Robert Mandelbaum. "This was an accident because I did not intend to hit her."
If convicted at trial, Campbell, who originally had been charged with second-degree felony assault, could have been sentenced to two to seven years in prison.
Campbell, 36, hit Ana Scolavino in the back of the head with the phone in the supermodel's Manhattan apartment last March. Scolavino was treated for a head injury. (Read: Campbell's employee troubles)

From the time she began working for me about two and a half months ago, I began questioning her about items I found missing. This morning, when I finally fired her for that and her erratic behavior, she screamed, "This is going to cost you a lot of money." After some more yelling and screaming on her part, she left the house. The next thing I knew, I got a call from the police. I have no idea how she was injured."

i was dating her personal assistant at the time (for real!) and he told me the real story. She didn't THROW the phone. She basically stabbed her with it in the back of the head. I think he said it was a RAZR phone. Naomi was packing for a trip and Oprah's camera crew was scheduled to come over to film Naomi for a special show on her being 20 years in the business. The bitch couldn't find her jeans and went crazy. It really annoys me that she didn't get jail time or at least deportation. She's an ugly person on the inside and she's done this soooo many times before. I am sick of leniency for celebrities. They're people too! Instead of coddling them, they should be made accountable for their actions...maybe even made examples of..
The guy I dated worked for her because he thought he might be able to make connections with fashion photographers (he wanted to be a photographer) but she wouldn't let him talk to them and he couldn't stand being emotionally abused by her (which is personally ironic for reasons I won't describe here). He lasted two months and then he quit.
There will always be leniency for celebs or anyone else who can afford a good lawyer. Naomi's original statement went on to praise the police in a particularly sickening and see-through lawyer's schmoozing technique.

knows what a bully she is to "the little people". Unfortunatly most high ranking people in the fashion world are snobs who get off on seeing such vile behavor .
It must be a very limiting world, that's for sure. Imagine the pressure to always stay looking the same young age! No wonder they get cranky. The only way to rebel against it is to go the Carrie Donovan or Edith Head route and wear great big huge glasses...seems more practical than assault and battery.
you're probably not going to believe me but I was on that juryduty down at the courthouse that day,they called us into the courtroom to try the case and in a fit of panick realizing that it was actually going to trail and she'd probably be found guilty naomi pleaded guilty and the judge had to send us back to the holding room....miss thing was featuring a louise brooks black bob wig! so much for civic duty...
Campbell is nothing but a savage! I hate her. Even her book "Swan" is violent!(violent bore) I was laid in bed reading it when all of a sudden it plunged out of my hands and dropped onto my face which caused a nose bleed. "Swan" is a great substitute for Temazepam BTW !
